Can someone tell what to look for in soil drainage.

Hey everyone...thanks for checking this out.... My friends are puzzled and not sure if their doing something wrong like mixing the soil wrong. After pearlite and moss, etc are all added and mixed, watering the plant seems to drain nice and slow, not too fast. After two weeks, the water just runs out almost as fast as you feed it....WHY????

It may be simply running out where the dirt has seperated from the bucket.
I have to drag/tamp my finger around
the edge prior to watering.
Also helps to water a bit slow to keep it from escaping down that edge.

how dry is the soil when you water? if its still really moist under the surface, your pot acts like a hydraulic cylinder. it only holds so much, so what you pour in, has to run out. I also agree with what charface said ^^^^^^^
