Can stress cause newer leaves to be a lighter green?

Unfortunately I just learned that XD cards are not the same as SD cards, ergo, they won't ft in my MacBook. So in advance, sorry for not having pictures yet. Here's whats up

Plants: 2x7 weeks- both traditional set up, 2x 5 week - 1 LST, 1 traditionals, 10x4 weeks - SCrOG
Grow Space: 2'2"x1'6"x8'
Soil: germination: paper towel method, seedling: Local Nursery's Custom Potting Mix, Vegetative: Sun and Soil Brand Potting Mix - 40% Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, 35% Organic Reed Sedge Peat, 20% Vermiculite, 5% Washed Sand
Light Source: 2x 2ft. 40w CFL, Blue Spectrum, (2000 Lumens each?)
Nutes: Jack's Classic Orchid Special (30-10-10)
Water: about 1/4cup (200ml) each plant every 2-3 days depending on how soil feels
Air Flow: "fanning" with closest door several times a day (this hasn't been a problem thus far in the grow)

The Problem: About 3 days ago, I transplanted my two big girls (7 weeks old) to their bigger pots that they'll stay in for the remainder of their vegging and budding. They seem to be doing SORT OF fine, what I mean is since the transplant they've both grown another node and set of leaves. Sounds good, but the reason I'm concerned is that on one of the plants its second newest set of fan leaves - which had already developed before the transplant - are turning a light green around the edges. The new fan leaves, and even them stem as far up as the new node that has grown are also a lighter green. No yellow to speak of, and despite being a different color the fan leaves are still growing. The other plant is still as dark as ever and very happy to stretch her "legs" in the new room =).

While I was transplanting the "sick" girl, some of her root system was damaged because one of the roots had grown into the drainage hole on the pot it was in. I realize this is NOT good, but is it the cause of the lightening of the leaves?

If so, how can I fix it? Todays the day they get watered, so I wanted to see if anyone had some advice first. Should I give her more water if her roots were damaged, and she's stressed because of it?

p.s. oh I lied, her primary leaves are yellow, but that's just because I haven't trimmed them off yet =P no "real" yellow

SORRY FOR LONG POST! THANKS EVERYONE =-D

hmmm a couple views but no posts? did I answer my own question then? is the lighter color a stress reaction? the only reasons I asked are

I was under the impression a plant wouldn't grow while extremely stressed --> my plants growing
the plant isn't drooping ---> probably not moisture stress hmm

the transplant was 3/4 days ago (i smoke too much, i cant remember) so the symptoms of stress are probably only manifesting now.. but would the plant keep growing despite?

I moved my lights another 3 inches away, misted the leaves, watered the plants at 1/2 recommended concentration nutes (the way I've been watering the whole grow), and "spun" the pots (trick I learned just to help make sure lighting is even). Girls seem happy, but pale color is still concerning to over protective parent =-/. I forgot to mention earlier I am LSTing in the same soil medium as the other plants, and transplanted the LST on the same day. LST seems to be doing better than I expected! It grew another node, and will be ready to LST a second time either tomorrow or the next day, way ahead of schedule! HUZZAH =)

Hi Jake, Sounds to me like the sick girl is using some of her stored nutrients in her leaves to grow some roots. She should be fine in a week or so. Light green leaf, when its the whole plant is usually a sign of nitrogen deficiency.

Thanks Cruzer! I don't consider myself an expert by anymeans, so it's good to hear someone else say it ... my nutes are high in nitrogen, so if we discount that then I think your theory sounds really good... just for kicks I'll let y'all know what happened in a week. fingers crossed:eyesmoke:

hey it wasnt exactly a week, but for anyone else who experiences this problem, my girls are happy again and coming in full bloom =). i gave them a day of 14/10 light/dark (as opposed to 18/6 i used throughout vegging) and i think it helped lower the stress really well. I repotted them since this post into 8 gallon pots, and their roots were developed wonderfully (i didnt rip any this time!) so thanks to all who lended some knowledge
