Of course you can grow hydro outdoors! I put some plants in 6-inch rockwool cubes outside every year. I keep the cubes wet with a watering can of nutrient solution, I water them every couple of days.

HTH

if you have aero ponics or a recyling water system it will require alot of maintaince because of all the shit blowin around that will clog your pump and what not.

^^ Nice Dreams lmao

Im also curious if this works..

I have a small balcony outside my window,
wondering if I could grow a plant - grown hydroponically (maybe a Folgers coffee can method) - with the sun as my light
would that be possible?

The only concern is I live in Las Vegas..
temps in the summer stay above 110 during the day, and low 80's high 90's at night

You can totally grow hydro outside. I would DWC with buckets or such and then put them outside...the temps are an issue, but you can get aquarium fixtures to control the temp...that is an advantage of hydro...

Possible yes, but why not use soil? much less hassle... Where would your electricity come from? Maybe you should plan this out a little better.
edit: I thought for a minute that thunderlips was the OP.

to the op: yeah, you should plan this out some more. But your answer is yes.

You can use it outside. And I'm only 2 hours from you I can tell you that temps are a bitch. But a way you can bring then down is put something over the balcony rails. Like a shade owning or net. Add a dropper to it running during the day. Makes like a swamp cooler and will hide the plant till it gets big and stinky.
