i just finished out my fifth grow and am looking for improvements to the quality of bud i'm turning out. mind throwing any thoughts my way?

What i have:

11 plants grown in 5 gallon pots in MG soil with MG "bloom booster" during flowering and a last feed with AN's micro grow bloom. they grew under 1000w MH then HPS. solid flush 2X at two weeks prior to harvest. seeds are feminized nirvana strains. spray n grow throughout. plants surrounded by mylar, well aired, and temp controlled. kept watered but not wet. my water is ultra super hard but i made no pH adjustments just tap water. harvested at what seems to be the right time from all i have seen, nice heavy girls, trimmed immediately, and put in paper grocery bags to dry. yield i'm guessing will be around 10 onces dry. they have about 5 feet of available vertical space.

i know that's not a lot to go off of but i'm hoping those of you who have done it can steer me to the most obvious improvements.

also: my neighbors are smelling my weed. i have a $150 6" charcoal/carbon filter in use that's about 4 or 5 months old but is apparently letting some smell escape. they noticed it during the trimming. what can i do to control this better?

I noticed 2 things you can change and the first would be using anything other than mirical grow try looking for nurserys and gardening centers to find something better for a decent price and the second change would be the water you are using but you should be adjusting the ph and if you are using tap water you should let it sit out for 24 hours b4 you water because if the chlorine that is going to be in it and you need to let that evaporate. and as for your carbon filter i would suggest trying to find a way to put new carbon in it and you can buy some from walmart although it isnt the best but it dose work. well you could upgrade to a different soil, like pro mix or roots organic, and uses different nutrients other than MG. they are not the greates product really.

fox farms light warrior mixed with fox farms ocean floor, 1 bag LW 2 bags OF. add one cup of perlite per 2gallons. go all organic in soil for the best possible taste. Espoma makes all organic nutrients excluding the quick solutions line stay away from that. http://www.espoma.com/p_consumer/biotone_02.html this is one of there products that is great for boosting mycorrhizae which breaks down nutrients to be more readily available, if you can get rabbit poop get it. It has tricotinol in it idk the spelling but its a plant growth product that is undijested by the rabbit. your plant can use it right off and doesn't have to produce it itself. if you add one cup per pot and water with plain water and molasses the rabbit poo and the biotone and fox farms mix will pretty much take care of things during veg, you might need to add something like this.. http://www.espoma.com/p_consumer/tones_plant.html once or twice depending on your veg period. but after that your good just use bunny poo and bone meal for flower and you will have some of the biggest healthiest best tasting buds you will ever smoke.

10 zips off 11 plants grown in a 5 gal buckets under a 1000w? I'd be worried about quality AND quantity. Something's not right.

And you'd have to pay me to poison my plants with MG shit. Yuck.

If it's quality you are lacking then you should buy some better genetics, an example would be serious seeds. You should also try some pro mix for soil as MG doesn't have good reviews around here. Did the plants turn out alright ? I wondering if you burned any of them by adding fertilizer to the MG soil. For a start that would be my recommendation, get some Pro Mix soil and some Botanicare nutes along with different genetics and see what you come up with.

As far as odor goes, you can add ozone to get rid of the problem, if you are handy at building things aren't afraid to solder, PM me and I'll tell you how to build a cheap ozonizer, probably about $20.

are serious seeds better than nirvana seeds?
what do peeps do to contain the odor during harvest?
anybody familiar with the nute lines made specially for hard water?

yes serious is like a million times better, NA is just above dank, during havest? dude cut that shit and dry it? fox farm is sold at amazon.com for a reasonable prise

million times better as mentioned above, genetics play a big role in what you get. Serious Seeds, T.H. seeds all have excellent reputation for quality.

ozone and carbon filter just like you used during the grow.

don't know, if you have a grow shop go in and ask questions and they will be able to get you on the right path.

Call around to your local independant greenhouses in your area and you should be able to find pro-mix, it is what most greenhouses use and if you ask for pro-mix they will know what you are talking about, it is also reasonably priced, straight pro mix is about $6 and organic about $8 a bag. You can go to their website and see if they list a local dealer if you don't feel like calling around. Foxfarms has a good reputation but I always thought it was priced too high. Do what makes you happy.

If you want faster grow then they hydroponics, they grow real fast. If it is your own home you are talking about then change filter, get a ozone generator if it is really bad.

I'm not as expert as many others however I have a few ideas

Curing odor: go to lowes, or somewhere that has carbon filters for your houshold AC vents. Put your buds in a brown paper bag, and loosley wrap that bag in those sheets of carbon filter. tie it up with some string, and rotate the buds around every other day or so. Keep this in your tent.

Also, get a tent to help contain smell. the only air coming out of your grow area should be through the vent.

If your from an area without many grow shops, find a cow field and get some cow patties. place the dried cow patties at the bottom of the buckets, or better yet a couple inches of bat guano

A good water filter. I have the mighty mite RO filter for 100 bucks. been using it for close to a year now, and still only getting 25 ppm straight from the faucet.
