It's called hedging your bet.

I just hope I don't wake up some day and regret it.

I've been off and on for the last 5 years. My pops been on the cancer sticks since he was 12 and he's 58 now.

He'll never quit. I feel bad saying it but idk how many years hes got left.
I hear ya man. My dads been smoking for a while and he's 55... has had heart problems since he was my age (25)... has already had a heart attack, and has an aneurism in one of the main arteries of his heart. His father died early from heart probs, and also the father before him.

None of them abused their body like me guaranteed, so I don't even go to docs/hospitals. Would rather not know!

But I quit cigs in january after 9-10 years. woo!

Literally 4 decades. WAAAYY too long.
Now that's some good news - glad to hear you're on the mend my friend.
I did the cig thing for far too long as well (considering every single one of them removes a bit of lifespan), around 30 though. I finally decided that I wanted to be a non-smoker & simply threw them out of my truck window.
I cannot see what I ever romanticized/liked about them now, can't stand even a whiff.

Strength was my ally as it can be yours - Like Nancy Reagan said, "Just say NO".

Stay strong and hang in there my friend. Sending light and positive energy your way.

P.S. Coincidentally, I'm smoking your namesake for the very first time as I type this, and it is AMAZING!!!

Well, surgery went well. They did it yesterday at 11:00. Well enough that I'm questioning Vanderbilts rep. I had the same procedure done last year at Vandy, and was one miserable shit for about 3 weeks. Really only fully recovered after about 6. This time, so far, there is none of the swelling, not nearly as much pain as there was the last time. We'll see, but overall a much less stressful thing than I had counted on and I am pleasantly surprised. Definitely hit the quit button on cigs. Probably easier said than done I know but gotta happen. Now maybe i can be around for many more harvests.
I am sending you good thoughts.

I now have a matched set!!

These were taken just a few days after each surgery. They actually heal up quite nicely. My scar on the right side is all but invisible now.
