Ive had 5 of these indicas from clone for about a month, theyre in a homemade pvc tent in a basement that is starting to get a little musty now that spring is rolling around. they're under a 150w hps, 90w ufo led, and 5 cfls, about to start nutrients and their water is PHed at 6.3. I noticed some fungus gnats buzzing around inside the tent and put up sticky tape, dried out the soil, then mixed in hydrogen peroxide in when i did water. I didnt mind anything for a while but i noticed a few gnats in the soil and the leaves gradually curling up really bad and getting a bubbly look to them as well as being dark green, very wide, and now theres some browning on the sides. The more i let them go and hope they just push through whatever it is, it just keeps getting worse so if anyone has any experience with gnat larva damage id love to hear it because i cant find what the damage looks like up top. It could be some environmental cause well seeing as theyre growing in a nasty basement. i checked for mold and fungus and didnt find any, ahh yes and lastly the stems of all the shitty looking fan leaves have purple stems. any help would be great! The shitty leaves are very random btw, some leaves look great, others look like they're on their last leg

and that wouldnt explain the cupping and browning on the sides. It would have more of a claw and be burnt on the tips, and slightly curled most likely

agree with the above for sure, but could you please post a pic of the whole plant from the sides and what the npk value of the soil or brand ect and when did you first notice this, a week ago or a few days and when you did first notice it, how long had they been in the soil prior to this and did it start in the top new fan leafs first

I noticed it probably 2 and a half weeks ago but just started getting worse. They're in ocean forest

They were in soil the entire time ive had them with is about a month. i dont remember where it started it was just pretty random as you can see from the pics

of can be quite hot, so youve not feed them at all. so say you noticed it as soon as they went in the of soil, or had they been in longer than a good week when you noticed the claw etc,

it look so much like n over fert, but there is just a few things that dont add up yet, what strain is it, also have you identified the bug, as i grow in coco and often get a few fungi gnats, just crush the dopy things as there reall easy to cacth if there not and there fast and nippy thats when i get worried as there not gnats and probably root aphids

Its a michigan bred straight called great lakes grape, its indica dom. Im pretty sure you're right about them being root aphids.

Gnats will only eat your roots, which will kill or stunt young plants. I use Gnatrol and stickey traps. The Gnatrol takes care of the eggs at the roots, and the stickey traps get the flyers. It is a 30 day cycle for the eggs to be eliminated. This was the only thing that ever really worked for me. Good luck

i just dare not give advice on youre nute line to, as ive never used of and i pride myself on giving info from exp or at least witha thread or link to back up my word,

maybee you could post a link in this thread to youre other thread, just so a exp OF soil grower cast a eye over both, juts to be sure there not related in anyway,

or ye a link here with some good info for you to check

I don't think it's gnats.
This happened to a couple of my plants last grow. I realised after harvest they were the only plants that I'd forgotten to put some drainage gravel in the bottom of the pots,
It may be your roots sitting in too much water imo...
I chased this problem for ages...humidity, heat, cal/mag, misting...none worked, and I ended up having to crop with this curling.

There's always a gnat or two around my grow, was then and is now.
But the current grow (same soil habitat etc) has leafs that point straight up.
The only difference in my growing methods, like I say, is correct drainage.

Just thought I'd share....;)

sworth you may have just solved my problem! That would make sense because they're in a basement which is high in humidity but cold at the same time so poor drainage would make sense!

no it never becomes a probelm in coco, it something that just seems to happen and you have to deal with, no matter how dry the top is kept, i still find them, i only get a few, i just crush them few there is and i see no more of them, also fungi gnats feed of the nutes in the coco and damge the plant that way, more than direct damage, i got a small army of them once in week 8 of a 10 week strain, the only noticeable damage was cupping of the leafs, the plant was chopped before and removed asap thou,

i know a potato and sticky tape will work if there is room in the soil(dont go ripping roots) if you have a this problem, chop it into small squares and place a piece in the soil, the adults will lay there eggs in the potato and you're fingers and the tape will get most the adults,

but beforte you go down this road, identify the bug, thats crucial and wait for some more exp soil grower to have a look and see if both sets of plants have a n problem etc or over first due to the of and chech youre nute scheadual with some one with exp with OF forrest line

Those babies are sooo green it's almost miracle gro blue. That soil has plenty of nutes in it. The plant may come out of it as the nutes get used up but don't feed it for a while.
