ok so I know someone with There card, and they filled it out so he is his own caregiver, he built a grow room in his house spent a few hunderd dollors.(he is disabled so thats alot of money)

well he has a Drug related felony on his record, and the guy at the compassion center told him he is not aloud to grow his own plant, and that he needs a caregiver.

I know with a drug related felony you can't be other peoples caregiver, but can he be his own???????????????/

You cannot be your own caregiver. You are a patient authorized to possess your own plants. You are a caregiver for other patients.

You cannot be a caregiver (ie grow plants for anyone else) if you have a drug related felony conviction.

You can be a patient regardless of criminal record. You may also grow your own plants as a patient and not a primary caregiver.

It will say right on the card "Authorized to Possess Plants" then either a "YES", or "NO". Ask a lawyer to know for sure.

If a patient is already registered and they assign a no patient caregiver, when does the caregiver become legal,
As soon as the check hits or does the same 21 day rejection period apply ?

ok a clarifaction, he had his wife as his caregiver (but she never grew for him, he got it from the pot store) well now the pot stores are closed and he is no longer with his wife, so he wants to take her off as his caregiver, but he herad that he is not allowed to grow his own meds if he has a felony drug charge. he heared that the state won't adprove it if he wants to grow his own.

so does he need to find a caregiver to grow his plants????

I know if you have drug charges you can't grow for others,

He can grow his own plants but not for anyone else. There is a form that he needs to fill out and send in with a check to remove his wife as his caregiver.

Now i have mutiple people telling me you can't grow if you have drug charges, i think i am starting to beleave them, I read the Law word for word and i dont see any thing that say you can't grow for your self if you have drug charges, inless you are you own "primary caregiver".

I am trying to help people out with what i beleave too be true, but they are telling me I am giving bad info.

two ways to know for sure
#1 find a drug felon that grows there own meds legally.

#2 call a lawer (Does anybody know of a free drug lawer?)

Just read the law dude.

I posted everything you need to know in post #2. Above and beyond that I am a patient and caregiver in michigan. My patient card says I have no caregiver; It says I am a patient authorized to own plants. The law only says you cannot be a registered caregiver if you have a felony conviction.

(g) "Primary caregiver" means a person who is at least 21 years old and who has agreed to assist with a patient's medical use of marihuana and who has never been convicted of a felony involving illegal drugs. (h) "Qualifying patient" means a person who has been diagnosed by a physician as having a debilitating medical condition.

If you are a patient that grows your own you are not a caregiver. You are not your own caregiver. You are a patient authorized to possess plants. Only when you take on the responsibility to grow for OTHER patients do you become a caregiver, and only then is the felony restriction applied.
Your friend is fine to grow his own medicine. He just can't grow for any other patients.
