Yes. A grow space can have too much light. You will know there is too much light when the plants are showing signs of "Light bleaching."

Haha this is the funny part! I've spent less than HALF that on ALL OF my lights, IN AN 8X8 ROOM, and I produced just about a half pound total dried off of the last 5 autos I cut down.. last month. I'm not complaining.
My electricity bill is less than 200$ a month, and I have absolutely no heat issues.
I get these 600w lights for 150$ a piece.

Not to mention I got the first 3 300w Mars leds for free. I was never a believer in leds. Especially not cheap ones, untill I flowered out the 5 autos with t5s+ leds.
After seeing results I sprung for more. Why,??
Because for cost compared to results, they are worth it! I can hang these little things sideways, face down, pointed up-however I want-for maximum penetration..
That's a 8 bulb t5 on top in the last pic.

I won't say that these leds will work without the t5s, but in my case, they work great for lower and mid supplemental lighting and I am more than happy with my cheap posted "non-working" Chinese leds =))

I'll note my full dry weight from the 3 plants in the blue bucket when I'm done!
So in your 8×8 room u produce half a pound. Well I was getting those numbers with my 600 hps in 5x5. Bro, I'm pushing 1600 watts of cree in a 8x8. Half an elbow, ha ha, I'm trying to get 3 to 4 lbs every 8 weeks buddy. Why else would I spend 2k. I also built a clu 048 1212 veg light also with 12 clus. It run at 600 or so watts when turned up full power. The veg light cost me bout 400$ so my cree led cost me about 16 to 17 hundred bucks.

My leds are 12 to 18 inches from my ladies and I'm not getting any bleaching what so ever. I'm pushing my cree's at 1750 ma. I'm damn near blind when I walk out of my flower room.
heh I cannot turn mine up the full 1750 mA......1.3 1.4 maybe, that's 4 CXB 250w in a 2x2.

DIY is awesome! :D

I made same mistake as you when i first started using leds. I started with kind l600 and advanced platinum if i believe. The bad thing about the led market is that it is so jaded that when doing a search you get like companies like kind, blackdog, mars, etc. Most of these companies have reviews also which make it even more jaded. Once reaching this forum and digging for parts and websites and what not i sold those 2 lights after doing a comparison and invested in cobs from when pacific light works was selling parts and from northern grow lights. I have a pic i will post when i had the kid, platinum and cree cxb3590 together. The plants loved those cobs compared to the top led company panels. 12801160_609422115871796_1526821173925241296_n.jpg

For the sake of information. When you see the top most leaves seemingly "standing" straight up.

It is usually an indication that the plant is getting plenty of light at the top of the canopy and moved it's leaves to allow more light to penetrate deeper into the canopy.

The plant above shows what I am referring to. The strain itself is known as "Mad Kush" by Breeder Choice.

I am currently growing within the same space.

You can never have "too much" light... You CAN however have lights too close and burn/bleach plants.

I right now have 248 true watts of LED on 1 plant right now and what you get with that is 1 damn fine plant.

You dont have to spend a shitload of dollars in order to do things right. hell , I just got 3 oz dry (88.3 grams) off an autoflower Trans Siberian plant.. Its fucking fire too.

I grew it under a 60$ 180 watt ufo led .

I'd like to build a COB light set up but my room is only 4 feet tall.
I read lights like the 3950's need a good 10-14" away from the canopy to prevent bleaching.
Would a light like a 3070 be more friendly?
