can you run a quantum board soft ?

Im curious, watching videos on diy leds where 3590 cobs are ran at 700ma around 28 watts a sq ft.

So i was curious if you could run the HLG 550 with a different driver that will run the leds with less wattage but more efficient ?

Yes the QBs can be reached soft for a nice efficiency bump. There 550 it's dimmable so you can set the wattage to what you like. It seems dimming down to 70% doesn't really caused you much penalty for dimming.

I saw a video on youtube where someone took par readings at 100% power and 50% power and it was a big drop in par. But from what i have watched with the DIY videos there was a way to push the driver but run the led with less amps making it more efficient.

Do these quantum boards not work the same as a cob ? for instance say you took 9 - 3590cxb and ran them about 36 volts at 700ma + each cob is going to push around 25 watts about 220 watts for all 9. So could you do the same for the qb288 or qb 304 ?

I Want to build a fixture with these QB boards that has no gaps like say the slate 3 with 3 boards x3 giving 9 boards. This would make the fixture 3ft by 3ft.
There slate 3 kit with the driver it comes with would run 3 boards around 260 watts. Is it possible to run 9 boards with less ma and still only pull 260 watts ?
