Can you tell me what's really going on here?

My pictures kinda suck, I know, so here's a little description of what's happening:

Redish/purplish stems on grow shoots and fan leaves (not on the main stem). As well as yellowing that eventually starts turning brown/brittle starting at the tips. Using an organic potting mix, happy frog all purpose and happy frog bulb food. Started with distilled and spring water but started using tap water recently. Also, I am unable to test the pH at this time, I can adjust based off memory, so guesstimation is my game but should be very close. Also feel I should let you know it's yellowing on the bottom and slow growth at the top.

Two plants both showing same symptoms.

Looks like mrblu has answered your question. On the subject of ph a meter is a good thing, it will eliminate a bunch of problems and allow you to dial in the right conditions. A cheap one is now only 20 bucks.

What is your environment like? Purpling leaves off the main are commonly associated with poor (low) humidity during growth. Otherwise Sir Ganja and Zakk66 have summed it up for you. Get your PH in check, do a distilled water flush, and switch out of those transparent containers, you`ll have mold and bacteria issues otherwise later. Watch for new, lush green growth. Happy growing

looks like your leaf just sat in the soil thats what happens when it sits on wet soil.
Get rid of that pot and get one that the light doesn't hit the roots for starters.

Well thank you all for your comments. I did take some black/white poly and wrapped the containers with it, last night. I never noticed the leaves touching the soil, but then again I guess I wasn't really looking for it, now I will. A pH meter would be great, and will be next investment, as soon as I get back to work.

Thank you all very much. ++++rep
