). Come on, he harvests on the 1st and posts yields of the 'dried and cured buds' on the 6th??? so lets do some math here for ledbudguy, 5 days of drying = 27 ounces. (I know it was a bit more but I forgot the rest) we'll say that he even loses an ounce and a half to addition cure drying and excess stem removal. 25.5 ounces, a ounce per plant, however when you look at it from a electrical efficiency standpoint 721.65 grams. He had 5 of the 170W models (they only draw 120W as LEDs never run on full wattage). 600W total draw. 721.65/600= 1.20 g/watt. Not bad at all. Each light is pushing 144 grams. If he were to go head to head with a 600W HPS I would doubt the grower using the HID would yield anywhere around a pound and 2/3s.
We'll even imagine he sold it all. Ill go as far as proposing that even if all that was sold at once, at 200 bucks an ounce (factor in bulk pricing) he would theoretically have made 5400. The LED's set him back 2000, we'll call in another 1000 for electricity, CO2, soil, nutrients combined. He walks away with 2400 even, while paying off his total investment on his first crop from it. All for less than a Kilowatt per hour. Sounds pretty nice if you ask me.
Lets not forget that those clones were pure shit, covered in mites too if I am not mistaken (or a def), and he tossed them on a short veg after they stabilized. With optimal growing circumstances I bet he could have pulled a shit load more.
Lets even go crazy and say that the weight estimate even drops by 33% and yields a final 18 ounces. You mean to tell me that 18 ounces is a typical yield from a 600W HPS with no additional lighting? From shit clones. Please.
He is a good grower, but getting 18 zips from piss poor clones under a 600W is less than the normal on any day of the week. Hes doing it again too, we'll see his harvest shortly.

Thats what i was saying.Why the buds are points instead of ounce or whole plant.Just half a gram and a little over?The thing that I have trouble believing is that anyone would photograph a bud that weighs one-half gram.

I don't know man, my grow was like a third of that hanging, and (noting I harvested over 2.5 weeks ago) with no stems attached (other than the core of buds) and after some time curing. I got 8 zips (at least what I weighed yesterday) Thats a pretty stable number IMO, I cant see that weight drastically changing by any great number. That could conceivably be 20 and change zips in those pics. And like I said, even if it wasn't and it landed on like 18 zips, its still impressive yield for 600W (actual draw) of lighting.

who is going to take a measuring tape and wrap it around all of their buds. To actually be accurate you could weigh the buds, convert to newtons, stick the buds wrapped around something in water, w/o weighing the water. convert to newtons. then simply divide the actual weight by the difference of the actual weight and apparent weight in water. and you have density.... which would be in the american scale.

Yeah a measuring tape would be one of the most asinine ways to do it. Also newtons has jack shit to do with density. The English system (american scale, as you say) also has jack to do with Newtons because Newtons deals with force and is in metric so the conversions would be >asinine for density. You had the water and wrapping your buds before dipping them in water right though, kudos! If you had container with markings (graduated cylinder, etc) you would stick your buds in a plastic bag, suck out all the air, then immerse it in the water in the cylinder and record the difference in volume as seen by the rise in water level. The weight of the buds in grams divided by the change of volume in mL would give you a nice density calculation, so like I said before, density is mass/volume. Not Newtons, or nautical miles, or light years... but thanks for quoting me, because I think my original post has been deleted?

Density= mass/volume
weight= newtons= mass(gravity)
gravity=9.8m/s squared
so
(newtons/gravity=kg=mass)/volume=density.... you were saying
o btw, alls you need is a few conversion to switch between the 2 systems.
