  • Thats what you think but liberals think this makes Obama look good so its all just sham, just like the fact you seem to think the government gives two shits about you and your prosperity the liberals think that the government gives two shits about the environment..What a cruel joke on everyone.

Where in anything I have said did you think that I believe the government gives 2 shits about me?

Where in anything I have said do you think I am prosperous?

You have the wrong poster sir!!

Earth has a finite supply of fossil fuel. Sooner or later, people will need to learn to live with out it. We are already fighting over it. Blaming Obama today does not change this.
Yes, in a couple hundred years people might have to start living without fossil fuel. And as I have already stated, market forces will handle this by supply and demand.

New and existing technology is making more and more fossil fuel sources viable, there is a finite amount but we havent come close to reaching it yet.

Why else would you want drilling? for our own prosperity of course..I would want it also..but it will go to foreign companies and haliburton(which is essentially foriegn) so no thanks...

Oil and gas are fungible. Which means they go where they are most valuable. If we drill more here we can buy less. Simple supply and demand.

So do you think that merits irresponsible drilling? If that is your opinion, you are entitled to it.

You may not think it is irresponsible, but you aren't the authority on that, neither is Harper, or Gingrich or Obama, the citizens of Nebraska are, it seems they indeed think it is irresponsible.

What about the citizens of Alaska? Or the citizens of the Gulf Coast? They were arguing against the moratorium even as Obama imposed it after repeated rulings by the courts that they were not justified.

There are rules in place for drilling, the last disaster we had the rules were clearly broken. But we have thousands of other drill sites where the rules were not broken and there are no issues.

What do the citizens of Alaska or the Gulf Coast have to do with a Nebraskan water supply? I don't see the connection.

Yeah, you started to lose the connection when you talked about drilling. The pipeline connects to drilling being done in Canada and not American drilling.

My post is in response to the moratoriums on drilling in the gulf and Alaska that are also occurring since it appeared that you changed subjects.

Are we talking about irresponsible drilling or piping?

Fine, address only the petty typos you find in my hasty writing and ignore my good points, then wonder why I attack you the rest of the time. I'm not trying to troll you.

Do you care about what the people of Nebraska want or not?

I accuse the source of this entire issue of corruption and you give no response.

Then you cite Alaska and the Gulf coast when you are the one defending irresponsible environmental practice [drilling, piping, poisoning the world's water].

So why do they have all those oil drills with miscellaneous asian and south american flags on them along the gulf coast? I would sure like to help fellow American's but I am just not seeing that..beyond that haliburton gets everything and its a bunch of BS...What about some American companies? Hell why do they drill in Flordia and we can not? Pretty effed up..

That isnt what this is about.

An alternative route is already proposed.

We have 25,000 miles of piping in America already. It criscrosses all over the country. My response to you is... what is different about this gas line? What is different from the other lines?

What I am telling you is that Obama is sitting on this until after the election. He doesnt care about the people of Nebraska, he knows they are fine. He cares about the envrionmentalist vote.

However, he has just damaged our relationship with Canada. They are going to ship this oil somewhere and forcing them to ship it over the mountains to China is not the way to go.

It is different IF the Nebraskan people do not want it. Do they? I'm actually asking.

The second statement is just an opinion but I see where you're coming from. Although I don't exactly agree, I also don't exactly disagree. My question would have to be answered.

Also, if this is about Obama playing the environment card, then it matters who agrees with him. If Nebraska agrees, then he isn't just playing a card, he is championing a cause, and environmentalism is a good cause IMO.

I have no idea what the nebraskan people want. It will bring thousands of jobs and millions of dollars to the state.

Maybe you can dig up an article on it. My quick reading of one article didnt provide any info.

This is your chance to convince someone that you are correct. Just sayin. You could be right on this one though. I think the GOP will fail to use this against him effectively even if so. I still have trouble seeing Obama as a champion of a noble cause, he is a politician.

I am not part of the GOP, I am an independent. What I want is for better economic conditions for ALL Americans. And part of that is cheaper oil.

Every time we start getting ahead OPEC raises the price of oil and just sucks the profit away from the US. We need to develop stronger partners outside that cartel to force them to play more honestly in the game. The only way to do that is to increase production for ourselves and our allies outside that group.

Meanwhile we hope that someone develops cold fusion tomorrow. There are some amazing tecnologies in power and other sectors being developed today... real star trek stuff. It just takes time and to force it by raising the price of energy isnt the right path to take for energy independence.

I'll cosign this, although I think more progress would be made in this issue if the GOP would stop being petty and opposing every single thing the President does just to hurt him politically, some of his work is necessary. Either way, we need to stop being the cartel's best (idiot) customers. The diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil ffs and I think that we could have afforded to update our entire energy infrastructure instead of the Global War of Terror which essentially was a bad solution to the same (energy) issue. Half of the GOP is in that cartel so any solution they submit is going to be designed to maximize oil profit and anything that hurts that profit is going to receive their criticism. It is an added bonus for them if they can shell Obama in the same argument.

This was the first thing Obama has done right:

They wanted to run this pipeline through environmentally sensitive areas without any environmental impact studies. US companies have not been allowed in these areas as they are too environmentally valuable, but you want foreign companies to be allowed to profit from trashing the American landscape?

This is why the US is in such a mess – you just repeat what your chosen party promotes. Why not research before you spew your uninformed rhetoric and you may learn that you are being played the fool.
Agree man I think that was a very good decision by Obama.

Nope, the pipe is made in the USA... and if the project gets dumped then hundreds of miles of pipe get dumped on the market too...
