well okay im an oldskool grower and I use to live in southern BC... most of the strains we have today have roots in BC. all the so called kali strains are slightly re worked BC strains...but even BC has tkaen its roots from else where.. most of the seeds I did my breeding with were from napal and Afghanistan. Brazil..ect.. i picked them up from people who travelled to those places.. or when I travelled myself .. so i must say BC is where it started.. underground illegal grows in Canada.. that lead to legalized weed in the US.. kinda odd but meh..and California..is trying to ripp off BC for its status .. better outdoor in cali?.....ever actually go to BC and try our shit?..ive tried yours.. and its blah to say the least....lets just say BC has cleaner water...
I guess you said what I was trying to say.
I remember back in the late 70s and early 80s we used to smoke a lot of Mexican outdoor and I even got a hold of some Columbian gold from time to time. Or at least that's what it was said to be. I know it sure looked the part... very light brown, almost yellow. Anyway, a buddy of mine came back from holidays from Abbotsford and brought back what he called "BC Red Hair" it was almost lime green bud with the amber pistils and...NO SEEDS!!! WTF?? Never seen anything like it and we were all literally floored by how potent it was. LOL It was said to have been grown indoors. We were 14-15 years old. And all of a sudden that was all you could find in central Alberta, the BC Red Hair. I now know suspect that it was the early version of Northern Lights....
So I when our family went down I went looking for it and it wasn't hard to find. It was everywhere. We crossed the border and went to California and I was stupid enough to bring some with me. We ended up in San Clemente and I snuck off to the beach to go smoke one and I ran into a bunch of other kids. Of course we shared each other's weed... and i was disgusted by the schwag they had and they were all blown away but what I had. It wasn't long before word spread and the older kids came around, who promptly beat me up and took what was left of the 1/4 I had....lol
Anyway... I now what your saying is true. Californian's and the fine folks from Colorado owe all of their success to the pioneers in BC.
I also know from a few trips to Amsterdam, that even back in the late 80's and early 90s, BC had a HUGE reputation in Europe. Amsterdam coffee shops highlighted the BC weed on their menus and charged large for it. As for Spain.... I've been there too a number of times and they are very late comers to the growing party. They are to close to Morocco to have ever had a need.... But they are quickly gaining an international reputation as well...
