'you guys' is slumlord businesses that don't need the grant but will apply for them anyway..many businesses in the US has a vile republican behind it.What guys? I’m pretty sure who applies and who doesn’t really does not follow political lines. Those that don’t need it here will basically pay it back in income tax and those that do won’t (so much). Not sure how it works there but again it’s time to all work for the single goal of getting through this........ yes it’s gonna be a huge task and I doubt we can.

My experience is that slum lords are not very smart short sighted. It so much more expensive to not fix stuff and keep buildings up to snuff in the long run. The ones I know don’t know enough to even apply, they are not that into the business. These are the guys who keep using regular lightbulbs and never used the grants to change to l.e.d. Solar, etc. I also don’t think there are as many slum lords as people think. My guess is around 10%

You picked a really bad time to be so full of hubris.
Believe it or not housing is an essential business so when most people are at home catching up on Netflix we are still moving people in, dealing with maintenance issues in buildings we know people have corona. Every day I risk exposure, certainly not like a doctor or a nurse, but nothing to take lightly either. That person is a medical delivery person right? Buss drivers and pizza boys are probably more exposed.

I’ve had dozens of conversations this week with people who have not been lost any income and won’t because they are either retired on SS or collecting disability, yet demanding to not be charged rent. We are running out of time in the day to deal with the people who actually need help because of all the losers who heard “free rent.” Same losers who stop paying their rent three months before tax season.
