Canna Coco, PH rising fast with hard water

Hello all, hope your all enjoying your latest crop.

Ive got a problem with PH rising too fast in canna coco using the canna line of nutes. I put tap water in a jug, then add nutes and adjust PH to 6.0. Let stand for a day and check/adjust PH before using.

The solution itself is keeping PH nicely on it's own, but when I feed the plants with it the PH rises fast (the runoff comes out at ph7.0 in under 24 hours). Im now feeding them everyday to try to keep the PH down, but it does not appear to be working no matter how much fresh nute solution I use.

This is happening since the seedlings have developed roots. I am growing in air pots and can already see roots coming out of the holes after only 2 weeks of life. I am worried about this ph problem and don't want my plants dying.

Should I just buy an RO filter and some cal mag or Is there a way to correct the PH issues without one? It seems like the PH buffer has ran out in the coco coir :dunce:

Please help a newbie, I need some decent bud to smoke:wall:

Sit down, relax, breathe.

1. Stop feeding them everyday. -- Especially for 2 week old seedlings.
2. Buy distilled water. -- You won't have to worry about pH ever again.
3. Look at the plants, not the statistics. -- Do they look unhealthy, or are you just being overly conscientious?
4. 6.4 - 6.8 pH runoff -- You're off by 0.2. It's not the end of the world.
5. Transplant -- You mentioned that the roots are sticking out of the pots. It's time to put them in bigger pots.

Cheers jweezy707, Id light one up for you If I had any ganga.

I must admit I have been worried about watering them so much, but I thought that I better try to keep PH in range :dunce:. The air pots are supposed to air prune the roots to make more roots develop.

The headband (sour kush) seedlings dont look too bad (attitude seeds said they were not fussy eaters) but the others have certainly suffered lockout and look stunted in comparison to the headband.

I think I made the mistake of flushing with ph'd tap water with no nutes the other day then leaving for 24 hours without feed. My temps are also pretty low until I sort out the ventillation system taking air from the house. Also the humidity runs about 65-70 with 17 celcius, when the lights go out the temps went to 9 celcius last night.

Attitude is a seedbank. DNA Genetics is the breeder. They are lying if they said Sour Kush isn't finicky. If you over feed her, she will crap out on you, these plants are best grown with ultimate care to detail and not what I would consider a beginner plant.

If you have hard water... then yes, you should be filtering it. it is hard... You're not using a hard water formula, so I think this should be clear.
A simple $12 Brita filter would be fine.

Canna nutrients don't hold their pH very well. They need time to mix.

I find the best way to balance them is with TechnaFlora Nitric Acid pH down. First you mix your A+B together in the water. Then you rest it for minutes with the occasional agitation. Mix in the rest of the nutrients. And do another 30 minutes. Test the pH and balance it down. I will balance down to about 5.7, just a little lower than I'd like. Allow for 12 hours to pass and balance the pH one more time but to the exact number you want. It might come up slightly from here but I actually find mine to hold very firm after a second balancing with the Nitric Acid.

It says this on DNA Genetics Website too. And she's a high yielder at 500 to 600 grams per sqmtr, I thought this sounded like an ideal starter strain.

Ive taken some pics, first they show the problems with white widow x big bud and northern light blue.

Then shots of all of them with the headbands being the biggest on the right and the little new ones on the left. One shows the roots coming out of the air pots. One shows some wierd things growing in the node of the headbands. And finally a close up shot of one of the headbands.

Please have a look and tell me what you think

Thanks for looking and leaving any comments which may help.

im new at coco but im guessing that what your seeing is nute burn. i have 2 that i fed too high PPM. i flushed them all with less nutes and PH balanced water and they are lookn good. get on it now before its too late. i fed my cups twice a day at 60% humidity and 75-80deg. started with 200 ppm using tap and rhiz, second week 350-400 with AnB +rhiz. i also presoak with a little anb for trycoderma thingys and they did well. im growing orange kush and blueberry atm. have OG kush and GDPs being transplanted tomorow into cups. GL with your grow. this shit aint easy lol, not yet anyways lol
