I was doing research for my appeal to wcb and I came across this article. While I don't like that they support the new system, I do like the concept of having one place to go and having a doctor back you up. We need more clinics like this across the country so patients can easily access this medicine. I just copied and pasted the article but here is the addy. www.cannabinoidmedicalclinic.com

About Us
The Cannabinoid Medical Clinic is the first clinic in Ontario to provide services to patients under the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR). Our mission is to facilitate safe access to medical marihuana to patients who may receive a therapeutic benefit.

Services include an OHIP covered consultation with a physician to determine your eligibility for medical cannabis. Patients who meet criteria will receive a prescription for medical cannabis and have access to a licensed producer. In order to improve access to medical cannabis patients will be able to place an order with a licensed producer and pick up their medication from the clinic.
History of Medical Cannabis in Canada

Since 2001 federal regulations provided a means through which seriously ill persons residing in Canada could obtain an authorization to possess cannabis for medical purposes. This program, known as the Marihuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR), is administered through Health Canada. The MMAR outlines requirements for eligibility as well as supply options. In order to be eligible a form must be filled out by a health care provider stating the patient meets diagnostic criteria and then sent to Health Canada for approval. If approved, the patient can obtain medical cannabis directly from Health Canada, obtain permission to grow it at home or designate a third party to grow it for them.

Over the previous decade the MMAR underwent various amendments to address barrier to access as well as stakeholders concerns about safety and security. A new set of regulations, the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) has been drafted to replace the previous program. Under the new regulations Health Canada will no longer be responsible for approving individuals for medical cannabis, this will now be the responsibility of the health care provider. The health care provider will provide the patient with a prescription indicating the recommended daily dosage and length of time to be used. In order to obtain access to medical cannabis the patient will have to bring their signed prescription to a licensed producer (LP), and the LP will send the cannabis via mail or bonded courier. The Cannabis can also be picked up from a physician's office. Personal production and designated production licnses are being phased out and eliminated by the Spring of 2014.

They aren't functional. I tried to get in to see the doctor before Christmas, and no joy. I don't know what their deal is.

Yeah, I have a prescription from my own Doc. After CAT scans, MRIs, Neurologists & the works couldn't come up with any other options we decided to give it a try. She wasn't sure about it, but the Neuro okayed it.
