I have had this issue going onto a year now ! The doctors and specialists i worked with at my G . I clinic seem to have no idea what is going on . I had many tests but probably not all of them , i did have the scope / endoscopy ... an ultra sound and also a test where they put a tube in through your nose into your stomach with a monitor for 24 hours or 48 hours . I got all these tests done and they still have zero idea what the issue is . They said they saw some irritation to my stomach lining or something to that effect but it could have been from anti biotics i took months before or something ? It's sucks they can't determine the why but more importantly that they seem to have no idea what the issue even is which means they haven't solved it . I have been living this nightmare and the quality of my life has dramatically dropped ever since . I am even more upset that the end result of seeing the specialist was "sometimes these things happen and they figure themselves out" that line keeps playing in my head every day and infuriates me as this is what i was told and then handed a 6 month pill script and never spoke to again ..... i follow up with my doctor and all he does is try and throw lorazepam pills at me . I don't understand what to do ... if this is going to be the quality of life where i can barely even eat a meal or enjoy anything ... i don't know what to feel about that or how long i could do it . I have enough to deal with ( other issues ) as do others that i work through every day and this is just the icing on the cake , overwhelming for me . I am used to constantly eating and exercising and feeling great , enjoying my food and fueling my body .. the way my eating is now on these pills ... i barely have enough energy or mental focus to get out of bed . I think i need to look into new doctors and get second opinions . I thank you for your advice and insight , i will research more into eosinophilic oesophagitis .. i have done mountains of research although it hasn't really helped i don't remember if i came across that condition or not but i should look it up and mention it . Thanks! i remember reading about the dilation , similar to expanding a balloon or something inside to make things easier ... from what i read it's something the people usually have to keep going back to get done . I don't know what i need but i need some sort of help , that's for sure .I am unable to diagnose if you were standing in front of me. I was an RN. But I worked in gastroenterology with scopes for several years as an OR nurse in ambulatory surgery. The most common type of dysphagia in young people is eosinophilic oesophagitis. More common in males and for unknown reasons has reached almost epidemic proportions. As with many conditions it is caused by inflammation without the actual causes of the inflammation being known many times.
