cannabis leaves count

ok so what does the number of leaves in cannabis plant determine ? or is it just base on the strain ??? ----plant 1) 5 leaves fan ------ plant 2) 7 leaves fan ------- plant 3) 6 leaves fan -------plant 4) is weird it has some 5 leaves fan and some 7 leaves fan

As a plant grows, generally with each new leaf set the fan leaves blades increase.

Cotyledons
1 blade
3 blade
5 blade
7 blade
9 blade
11 blade

Most plants don't go beyond 11 IME.



Even blades such as 2,4,6,8 can indicate some stress might be happening or could just be a deformity.

ohhh ok because someone told me 5 blades and under on a leaf is male and 6 and up is a female but I told them no its a false statement because the first time of male and female is the nut sack and we need to wait until the first week of flowering state and that's the only time to tell the gender am I right or am I wrong you cant tell the gender until a week or so after 12/12 light cycle ?

you are right. the only way to be absolutely sure is to wait on the light cycle. i once had a female who never had a leave over 5 so your friend doesnt know to much about what he is talking about. i wouldnt get rid of any tree until you are sure its a male.

If you are concerned with false statements, the first sign of a male is not a "nut sack".

Male plants have "stamen". Female plants have "stigma".

From what I have been told, AND what I have experienced, the fingers on a leaf only shows how mature and happy a plant is. anywhere from the typical 5 leaf you see in pics, to 9 that I have seen, but you say you have seen up to 11........

Some Indicas will produce only 5 bladed leaves and this trait shows up in hybrids as well now and then just as some aged cuts holding only three blades . There are Equatorial Sativas that can produce 13-16 blades at there peak of growth and there are some claims of 17 blades as well out there ..

So as noted there is a huge variable by nature when it comes to blade count on Cannabis Leafs :)

I currently have an 11 blade in my room, and have grown one with 13 in the past.
13 was impressive, I cant imagine up to 17...

heres the freak that produced 11, in a not so normal way.

I've got a black domina flowering right now that has 1 here or 4 there, but most of the leaves are normal 3,5,7,etc

The leaves are the most conspicuous and surely understood part of the cannabis plant, and have included in our work of art for a great many years, from areas as dissimilar as Japan to Egypt. Regardless of the considerable level of variety discovered actually in nearby populaces of cannabis, the leaves don't modify incredibly in appearance between assortments.
