canoeing leaves, dark green, some are wilting dry

some of my fan leaves are forming a upside down canoe shape, i pulled my plant out of 5 gallon pot soil to check the roots and they all were white, but the soil was very compact and wet around the roots. i havent watered for a few days and the soil is starting to get pretty dry. im thinking something about the water is causing this upside down canoe problem. i havent added nutes in a pretty long time so its not that. wat do u guys think

Yeah I have the same problem right now. First time I have ever seen my plants do it.
Hope someone is kind enough to provide some input, I could use that advice too.

not positive but it's probably your side-lighting causing them to "canoe" down. the underside of the leaves are very sensitive to light, and they will curl down to "hide" from it.

the plant looks healthy for the most part, you can still use side-lighting but you might want to consider making them point down instead of up

Are using anything to supplement magnesium> Try cal-mag or epsom salts. If it helps, you'll notice within a day

You're totally right. It's the side lighting. You're lighting on the top isn't penetrating deep enough and those leaves are bending towards the easiest light to soak up.

You said it yourself...it looks overwatered. How often have you been watering? A 5-gallon pot like that probably takes a long time to dry out COMPLETELY, which is what it needs to do.

Just let it get good and dry before you water again. I don't think it has anything to do with side lighting.

so what i will do then is move those cfls to the top of the plant instead of under, and i will only water when the soil is completely dry

Since when do leaves have to yellow to be overwatered? Eventually they will yellow up and die due to asphyxiation of the roots, but that doesn't happen if you've been SLIGHTLY OVERWATERING. Punk.

thats not a mag. def the leave ould have to canoe upward. it looks like overwatering or rootbound have u checked em lately/ are they nice and white,perky?

yes i did check them i pulled them out of the soil becuase the mix didnt have added perlite so i pullled it out and checked the roots. the soil around the roots was very moist and compact ( rock hard ) but all the roots looked fine, bone white, not many black ones. then i added perlite to my soil and put it back in. i should have better drainage now

I had the same problem with my cheese strain. And i found out, through trial and error that it is over watering. And you should really not need that side lighting. Unless you are using a small HPS. Plus, if your in budding, and are using too much p and not enough N than that can contribute to that also. But wait for the soil to soak all the water, than water it only once a day. With a 5 gallon bucket, you only need about 1/2 gallon of water once a day. Let me know how that helps. Every strain is different in what it needs and does not need. Just keep a chart note on each different strain.

hi it looks like this northen lights plant i had 2 close to the air con
the cold air made the leaves look just like that
are there any drafts where cold air is hitting the plant ?
