Calm yo titties man, it only keeps track of how many times you slam on your breaks, how many miles you drive, and how many hours around 4am you're using your car.
OR SO THEY SAY.
They say these things do not have gps technology in them and they do not keep track of speed and location.

The thing is tho it has to transmit the data somehow so I assume if it is not gps it has to use cellular technology which would be easy to track location. Probably speed too.

I don't like the idea of any sort of tracking device in my car. Shit depending on where I go I take the battery out of my cell.

yes, I am that paranoid at times.

Oh I agree- there's definitely a possibility that speed + location could possibly be tracked, but it's not 'supposed' to have said capabilities lol. It'd be nice if someone stole your car though and it DID have a GPS.

NEVER EVER let anyone but the auto mechanics at your shop hook into your OBD-II system for anything. There is a TON of shit in there to be accessed if you know what you are doing. One time I got to watch the Ford Engineers (and I use the term loosely), rip someone a new asshole in court with that data.

You do not want to give them shit.

Elaborate please.

I would consider putting one of these on my daughters car who is almost ready to drive.

I can't the records are sealed by Ford atty request. But more specifically I had to sign an NDA prior to record review. So I'm shut down here. All I can say is don't.

either way even if there is a camera in it, seeing as you plug it into your obd2 port, they'd most likely be looking at your crotch anyway. :D

Can I give you one of my camera's, so that I may peer at your crotch? I will try to get you a discount on car insurance too...

The invidious structuring and use of that info is what terrifies me. It is impossible not to leave a data trail. Worse when all the DB's are mined you can use predictive tech to ..... oh my.. never mind I must smoke now.

It's The Lives of Others (movie about East Germany's Stasi performing surveillance) made comprehensive. The technology, esp. the mining and collating and aiee! predictive aspects you mention, are outrunning law. Perfect end run. And for my saying so here and now, some machine somewhere just added zero point two points to my Troublemaker Index. cn

Most of my bills are payed this way. I keep a little bit of cash each paycheck for play money the rest gets deposited and i dont touch it til the nills are payed. Dont have to call anyone or mail anything in. Bills pay themselves.

i would, but i don't always have enough to cover everything so i juggle and pay large chunks at a time so i have a credit balance on some stuff. one bill will be 2 months behind and another will have a month of credit on it. plus direct withdrawal gets me in the habit of not looking at my bills so i don't know when shit goes awry until i have the orange warning on my door. i probably pay 2 months worth of bills just in late fees every year. it's a combo of being broke and being lazy. fuck you, bills. i pay when i want.

Crazy shit. I thought I read somewhere that all cars starting in 2014 will have some type of tracking device in them. I wouldn't be surprised if they put in sensors at speed limit signs and mail you a ticket if you are over, so the cops can sit at Dunkin Donuts a little longer. The new tvs have cameras and mics in them. I have been saying this shit for years and now, a little of it is getting into mainstream media. What you are hearing is nothing compared to what they are actually doing. I am making plans to get out of here soon.

Every inch you give them, you will NEVER get back and they add up fast. If you're one of those people who repeat the phrase they feed you, "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about", you deserve everything you have coming, but fuck you for fucking it up for everyone else.

Nothing surprises me. If you told somebody 40 years ago that in 2013 people would happily post their lives online and allow companies to track everything they say and do, they would think you were crazy and laugh at you. Americans are so GD "look at me" is is disgusting. That's why reality tv is everywhere now.
