Carbon filter and cfms?

Looking on amazon it looks like i can get decent filter for $30-60 but then i see "350 cfm" does this mean you need to have a fan with 350 cfms to properly work the filter, im at 160... Thanks!

also... I paid 50 dollars for a 160cfm fan and there are 240 for $22. Did I get ripped off by the hydro store or are those things cheap and breakable

bumpppp, my appt is really starting to stink I need to order one any advice?? Also the fan is in back end first does this take away cfms?

i want to go that way so bad i wish I had seen a tent with a fan like that earlier i want to avoid more fans lol

that $22 fan is most likely a duct booster, worthless if it encounters almost any resistance, so they suck(in the bad way) with carbon filters.(trust me, i wasted $60 on booster fans before i learned that) the $50 is most likely a can fan. Yes, that number is the advised cfm of the fan it be used with.
 
The carbon needs the right amount of time with the air to scrub it properly. The higher CFM filter is probably much bigger with more carbon to provide it enough surface area to scrub that higher amount of air.
