i have a 6inch carbon filter "its pretty fuckin big" attached to a big fan. i have about 40 females flowering. the fan is only on during light hours, 12 hours. should i start leaving the fan on 24hrs a day? i have a neighbor downstairs he knows nothing. what do you guys think? the exaust goes into my attic i live upstairs. worried about the smell during night hours like... leaking downstairs or some shit im just being paranoid i know. better safe than sorry. what do you guys have to say?

i'd say if you can smell it, then vent it. im a month into veg and am starting to get whiff's. 40 plants will produce a good smell, tell your neighbor your boiling brussel sprouts and cabbage for your new diet with a few beer farts mixed in...

Wouldn't hurt to run it on low speed during the night. I sleep next to my grow cabinet and sometimes at night the dank smell is pretty intense if my fan is off. It also helps keep the humidity down, and fresh oxygen for the plants.

Also make sure everything is airtight in the exhaust ducting. I have a 6" carbon filter, but I have some air leaks in my inline fan housing and I can smell it downstairs and outside during the summer. Then again my filter is a cheap one off e-bay ($70) not a big pro version.

I always error on the side of caution when it comes to anything that may attract attention. also, you may want to start thinking about how you are going to pull down all of those ladys without your neighbor knowing. I've had to run a can with a fan 24/7 in the processing area just as an air scrubber. Maybe you've been through this before, but when I'm harvesting and you open the front door...man, I'm just sayin...

40 plants can generate a lot of stink! keep that fan/filter running before someone else smells what you have going on!
