Carbon Filter Placement

So i have been doing alot of research lately preparing for my first grow. One thing I have noticed that confuses me is the placement of carbon filters. In lots of setups i have noticed that people exhaust their air through a carbon filter, back into the grow room. And it wasn't just one setup like this, but numerous ones. I thought the whole point was to exhaust the air OUT of the room, but i just don't get why somebody would exhaust it back into the grow room. Am I just stupid, and missing some obvious reason y u would do this? Somebody enlighten me please... Thx

People will use a carbon filter in the same room and put the air back in the room (called scrubbing) IF they are using Co2. They dont want to get rid of the co2. But it wont help with heat if you have a problem. They are using the carbon filter so no stench is even inside. You cant use co2 with a exhu.

I use the filter/fan to scrub. I also run a sealed room w/AC. No need for exhaust, just removin da funk. If you're going to exhaust, mount the filter high up in the hot spot for best results.

Very true. If you are exhausting then put carbon filter up high. Usally when you see it low like down on ground people are using co2 or ac too cool the sealed room. You want to exhaust the air without co2 as it will be hard to get fresh air inside without it.
