is there a difference between putting the filter on the inside over the outside other than it being more stealthy ?
i know what it is now! its the ducting that goes from my filter to the rvk fan it has loads of tiny holes in it im gonna get sum better ducting coz that bit of ducting has to be air tight coz the fan is sucking air through thetiny holes thnx 4 the infoEven I have tiny holes in my ducting caused from bending as long as it passes through the CO2 filter it isnt the problem in my opinion you should consider purchasing a new decent quality CO2 filter but first check your setup thoroughly.
i just have 2 75cfm 4in fans no cotton batting or nething. what do you think about putting a carbon filter on the intake as well as the vent??My carbon filter, like most, has a removable filter medium on the outside that looks like white cotton batting. It picks up dust and crap that would otherwise clog up the carbon. It is designed to have air sucked through it so that the air first passes through the batting. If you blow air through it instead you're going to be blowing the dust into the carbon and I have to believe that would shorten your effective filter life.
I think that's a great idea apart from the fact that it will double the air flow resistance. Besides filtering the exhaust air twice, the other great part is that the filters do a really good job muffling the sound of the fans and moving air so having one on both ends should really reduce noise.i just have 2 75cfm 4in fans no cotton batting or nething. what do you think about putting a carbon filter on the intake as well as the vent??
do you think the double air flow resistance will burn the fans out???that was the one thing i was worried about.I think that's a great idea apart from the fact that it will double the air flow resistance. Ive never herd of an active filter lasting years, you should either repack or replace every 6 months. This is from can filter themselves. Better safe than sry. Always go overboardCertain filters will last a couple of years bud.
you should be sucking air threw, not blowing threw. If the dust doesn't stop within 20 minutes or so I would return it.I dont mean to go off topic but I had to post this in case someone sees this as defective or damaged.
I just recently purchase a "Phat filter" which is supposed to be a very good quality CO2 filter, when I switched it on it sprayed out tiny carbon granules from the blower, I kept it on for a little while but it doesnt seem to stop. Will it eventually clear away the excess granules which is on the surface of the filter or should I return it. Usually it wouldnt be an issue its just that it leaves a tiny layer of carbon granules on the surface of my furniture in the room.
i think u could be right there mate i thought it was the ducting from the fan to the filter had holes in it i bought sum acoustic ducting and put that on there and still no change it must be thati had the same problem and the answer is that your pulling air through the filter to fast, the odor needs some "dwell" time in the filter to get soaked in, what i got was a speed control for the fan, think of it as a throttle for the fan you plug it in to the wall then plug your fan in to it and it has a dial on it to adjust the speed, im using a can 9000 with a 4 inch inline fan and i had to turn the fan down to about 70% before it worked now you dont smell shit, at first i thought that carbon filters were crap and couldent clean all the smell but they work like a charm when you run them right, like say your filter is rated at 200 cfm dont pull more that 150 or so through it and your problem is solved, if your handy you can even wire up a dimmer switch like you have on kitchen lights...look up controlwizardproducts.com and its called the speedster, it was like $30 at the grow shop
im growing in a closet 1mx1mx2m rvk100 fan i think thats big enoughMake sure your grow situation is at a negative pressure, by doing this you need all the air to travel through the carbon filter you may need a larger blower, computer fan(120mm). if it still smells you may need a larger carbon filter with more carbon
surface area.
You also want your plants to get new air, the air you exhale is what they thrive for so you might want to consider installing a inlet fan that pushed air in the grow situation, if the grow situation is at negative then the air wont come out the inlet hole.
