Carbon filter

If i bought a carbon filter and extractor, does it all just fit in my cubboard or do i need to have pipes and hoses coming out of it,

in simpler terms, can the filter and extractor do its job entirely inside the cubboard?

Theoretically, it would still filter the smell. But you need to exhaust your room so fresh air can come in through an intake. Therefore, the best place for that filter is the exhaust.

ok but if it had to, could the whole device sit in my cubboard, i cant show that anything is exausting air, if the landlord unexpectingly comes home, im dead if she sees that

how big is your space?

if you have enough room just have the fan and scrubber mounted at the higgest point of the grow room. The air needs to be sucked through the filter and exhausted out.

Yeah you can continuously recirculate the air thru your filter without exausting it elsewhere.....when the air passes thru the carbon its clean and odor free so it's not necessary to vent........

True as long as you have ample amounts of fresh air coming in.

And to answer your question, yes it can be contained inside the cubboard, I have mine in my closet.....hope this was helpful.....

Agree with the fresh air , boneman, but this can get tricky when you can't let anyone see intake fans exaust fans and so on...

One of my mates just use's a simple circulation fan . He has been growing with no exhaust fans,no intake fans for god knows how many years and he don't have a carbon filter but that does not worry him cause his one of these people that has a weed smoking land lord :weed: HAHA cheeky prick .
Anyway i reckon you can get away with just a carbon filter and a fan on top just fine.
But don't take that advice if your after super duper uper yields  with no fresh air and hot
temps :peace:

hey guys, two questions if you may answer:

A)if i decided to buy a small inline fan will it make a lot of noise as its in my cubboard in my room and at night i'd like to get some shuteye

b) is the inline fan, connected to the carbon filter ALWAYS on?

Only when your plants are flowering it should always be on. I assume the first few weeks before they start smelling you can turn it off when the lights go out.

Im wondering about noise as well.

Small inline fans make very little noise, and what they do make can usually be sorted by just mounting them with a small piece of rubber so it can't rattle.
The second question is really down to how you set up your grow. You can run it on the same timer as the lights, if it gets cold during lights out. Or you can have it on constantly for maximum odour control. Or just run it on a thermostat so it only runs when the room needs cooling, it depends on which are the most important factors in your grow.

I was thinking of placing the 4" Vortex fan in a box and filling the box with foam. Seems that way you cant hear anything or see anything. Do these get hot?
