Carbon for filters; Are there differences in Quality?

If you buy "activated carbon" in "pellets," are they all pretty much the same, or are some actually better quality? The "Acurel Economy" activated carbon pellets I recently bought cost me $20 for 9 pounds (on Amazon); you can pay a lot more -- for example Amazon has "Premium Laboratory Grade Super Activated" carbon pellets at $20 for 3 pounds. Paying extra for the fancy adjectives, or might it really be worth something?

Fancy adjectives are usually expensive lol


I'd think as long as it is well tempered in the filter they both should do the same. But that's just my guess

Any other opinions out there? Getting ready to replace the carbon in my filter, and if it will last longer, I'll get pricier stuff... Thanks.

Activated carbon is activated carbon.
What you care about is grain size. Too large will not be effective, too small and your fan will not be able to pull air through.
2mm is what considered good.
