Wow no woner I love my mango fruity sativas!! What Ive discovered is that the monoterpenes and cannabinoids have an almost synergist and antagonist realtionship together same as cannabnioids themselves. Also mentioned earlier myrcene and also unmentioned limolene (lemon terpene) in "my experience" does really seem to boost the upity efects of thc! Where as lavendar and camphor containing strains are quite the oposite and sedative! Reason being the high amounts of a-terpinene and and 1,8 cineole, and monoterpene alcohols' linalool and perillyl alcohol, which all induce severe sedation and couchlock. Heres somethin I found on the net~~~~
Spike Lavender contains Monoterpene Hydrocarbons (more than 10%): α- and β-pinenes, (+)-camphene, limonene; Monoterpene Alcohols: linalöl, terpinen-4-ol, α-terpineol, borneol, citronellol, nerol, lavandulol, geraniol; Sesquiterpene Hydrocarbons (more than 3%): β-caryophyllene, β-bisabolene; Esters (more than 2%): linalyl acetate; Ketones: camphor; Oxides (more than 35%): 1.8 cineole. Percentages of camphor and 1.8 cineole vary; Portuguese varieties have up to 70% camphor; 1.8 cineol dominates north of Provence.
~~~ Wow thats alot of sleepy terpenes..
Lilac, lillies, and lavendar are all common ingredients in "night time" baby lotions. Doesnt take a genius to figure out why purple kush is so sleepy!! The purple pigments contain more perillyl alcohol (10x more anti-cancer than limolene). Side tracking here, but purple strains would be the route to go if trying to fight cancer fyi!! Anyways, In aroma therapy "citrus" is used to wake up the sences where "lavendar" is used to relax them. So my little theory is if it smells citrusy, lemony, or tropical fruity it will generally be an upity high versus a camphor, skunky, or pine smell, but like everythingin nature there are exceptions, so this is not always true. Also the relationship between CBD and CBN is fascinating to me because CBN is supposed to be sedative but for me isnt!! I believe it counter acts the presence of CBD much like THCV is supposed to do! I know for me strains with even low CBD with no prescence of CBN are sleppy, where as strains with high CBD with even a tiny bit of CBN is nowhere as sedative! Ex: Reg Green crack (skunky) with a 18% thc .3 cbd and n/a cbn is super sleeeeepy VS Green crack extreme (citrusy) w/ 18%thc .3 cbd and .23 cbn is like im on tweek mode!! Its like day and night with only a .23 diffrence of CBN present!!! Just my 2 cents !!
... Oh yeah mad propps to "prof. matt" for spreading the word on veganics and possibly taking supersoil to a whole new level!!!! And also to my mentor subcool for creating "Harlequin" a new high CBD strain and also for creating "VORTEX" MY FAVORITE STRAIN EVER.. Serriously hands down one of the best sativa hybrids ive ever had the pleasure to smoke/grow!! And Ive seen alot of sativas in my day!!! Its like green crack extreme screwed a tangerine in a mango field that had been soaked in adrenaline!! One wand hit will have your heart racing, head spinning, and your forehead sweating like you ate a chili pepper!!!!!
