CFL, for flower?

(If someone can answer this please do...What CFL would be "Best" for flower? Is there one that emits flowering light? Like the right spectrum?)
Alright...

Alright so right now I have:
4x T5-HO 24W florescent
2x AFL T5 Hg 21W florescent
And another random florescent, I'm guessing 20W

So about 700W all together (In terms of regular lights)
...
...

I have a question for when I flower. I kinda want to get a HPS, but that's real expensive...

What if I kept those 6 florescent lights for a total of 600W of that during flower...
And added say...200W of CFL's???? Would that make a big difference if I changed it up, or should I just used what's there, and maybe get a CFL?

Your plants will flower better in 2700k lights. Also I wouldn't think of it as 700 watts. A 250w hps will put out a lot more light than what you have.

yea at 3ft away from the plant so what, 20% light absorption? learn techniques

He asked what was the best spectrum for flower. I said 2700k. Sure you can do it in others but IMO 2700k works the best.

i just disagree with using a HID system unless your gonna run a track to keep the lights like a foot away. otherwise wasted money in my opinion. but on a spectrum marijuana absorbs both lights. 2700k is imitating sunrise (which some plants like) and 6500k is mid day sun so it doesnt matter that much.

I count 158 watts of light bulb. That is the figure of merit, not "watts equivalent".
To up your CFL game, select 42-watt (actual, not equivalent) Warm White 92700K color temp) bulbs ... you get about 70 lumens per watt. cn

I believe you need 2700k CFL for flowering.
you can use 2700k - 3000k
Thank you :)

My plants think of it as 700W, and I don't want to get in an argument with them ;)
bro your good i just flowered on 6500k spectrum cfls prob about 450watts total and i got some nice buds. just pulled like last week
I just got done flowering under these lights, I know it "Works", I was just wondering what was "Best" if I can't afford HPS :)

Sunrise and sunset are about the same, so I'll try gettin some 2700k...

That's good, mid day is better for veg.

I'm not sure what the "Lumens" or "k" are on my lights...
cfl has a fairly standard lumen per watt online but the bulb should tell you what color it is. look at it when the brand is under it in small print should say what temp or "k" it is

Have fun paying for the electricity for a 250W hps while that guy does what he's asking. Yes with the CFL he will have to adjust his lights some, probably build his fixture himself and be a little thrifty. But he can expand it to suit his temporary needs and won't now or ever be stuck with a crappy 250W ballast/hood. Plus, he will get the electric saving benefit. Yes, he may sacrifice some yeild and or time, some.

700W of CFL = EXACTLY the same amount of lumens as the average HPS bulb. (About 35,000) Thats whether the guy uses 15 thirty something watt CFL's or 7, hundred plus watters. Throw another bulb or two on the bottom or the top or the bottom to get the dim areas and now he's really kicking. You'll notice it in your electric bill - those CFL's will cost you legit 10-15 bucks a month where as a 250W HPS will cost you double that. Ask someone who owns one.

Don't let anyone tell you what to do! Go hard with your CFL's and maybe one day get a nice HPS that runs true to it's wattage.

Best of luck.

If he had actual 700w of CFL then ya that would be a different story. BTW I love cfl's and I am not telling anyone what to do lol. Good luck with your grow :)

I'm just using FL right now, getting CFL for flower if I can't afford a HPS.

But yeah, there's no way I'm getting a 250W HPS for ANY reason.
600 first then 1000W (Since I can't cool 1000W)

Probably just CFL's for this coming flower though :)
