Cfl lights help needed

Hi can you use normal cfl lights from a hardware store for flowering or do they need to be red spectrum its for autos cheers

yes, you can. the lower the k rating of the lamp, the better. most commercial CFL's are 2700k, which is a very reddish hue of light. avoid lamps that are labeled cool white.

however, dont expect a large yield, cfl's have very low lumens and PAR ratings as compared to other types of lamps. i have yielded 1/2oz finished product on a single plant in a closet using just 4 cfls, however, the same plant would have yielded closer to 1/4 lb if i had been using HPS or CMH lamps for flowering.
growing with cfl's is a fine art, it takes a little practice to develop which style of growing is most effective for your setup. when using cfl's, always use smaller plants such as the type used in a SOG (Sea of Green) style grows.

Thanks for the info it's for a lil stealth grow at a friends,we found some 23w bulbs which are warm white,they give out 1570 lumens and says its the equivalent to a 110w bulb so was goin run 4 of these what would you think also usin autos can they be scrog cheers dude

i have little experience with autos in a SCROG so i cant really comment on them. however, it seems to me that SCROGing an auto would defeat the purpose of a SCROG, as a proper SCROG requires a lengthy veg period to build up a decent screen. Since autos flower based on age, i would think that you would actually reduce yield by scrogging it, the stress from manipulating the plant would burn resources that the plant would otherwise use for flowering.

Ok I won't be trying that then il jus let her grow,but you think the 4 bulbs would be ok givin out that many lumens or is it not alot il have 2 plants

try to LST (low stress training) the plants as much as possible, so that you have the maximum amount of budsites exposed to the lamps. check out some journals on here that have LST in the title for good pointers.

like i said before, they will work, just dont expect any massive yields or high times looking buds..... you will get some smoke, though, if you pay attention to the plant.
