CFL Spectrums

So what spectrum's are best? In the stores I've looked I've only been able to find Soft White and Daylight CFL's. Thinking of purchasing the soft white 42 watts from Home Depot and using 26 Watt GE Daylights as well (together). Would this work/how many would I need of each for one plant?

I would just get all 42w soft whites. For a cfl grow, the soft whites will veg as much as you need, and they're what you want for flowering anyway. I'd suggest at least 4 lights per plant. But remember, if you're growing multiple plants, you can position one light to "enlighten" more than one plant at a time . . . :peace:

I can say when i switched my plants from 4 26w 6500k to 4 42w 2700k they preferred the 2700's way better, grew faster and responded nicely, but not sure if just from output difference and/or spectrum, i think the 6500k is a waist of effort, I will not use them again after they burn out (one already did first time grow).

4 x 26w will output 1600-1700 lumens/bulb. 4 x 42w gives you about 2700/bulb.

More lumens = more stuff . . . :peace: I've never used 6500k for flowering, but 2700k works for both.

Thanks for all of the insight =]

So I will need 4-6 soft white 42 watt bulbs for one plant?

I've bought the book "Buds for Less", and I'm going to just follow that lighting setup once I get all of the materials I need to construct the lighting device :bigjoint:

I have that book too. If you keep it simple and follow what Seemorebuds says, you're going to be very, very happy (as long as your plant is a female). :peace:

= feminized seeds, don't waist your time otherwise unless you have alot of light, time and room.

See what you can do with a feminized seed and a few cfls:clap:

Nice =]

I'm just going to use 23-26 watt 2700k (soft white) CFL lights... Going to pick up two four packs, then the porcelain light sockets + y-sockets and wood with extension cords as soon as I hustle 20$ into around 80$ :leaf::leaf:

They will, just place them well. Also, do not burn your leaves if they touch the lights (happened twice already).

8x 42 watt cfl's will be enough for ONE plant. I had 6 42 watt cfls and had to "successful" grows. I had about a half once on the first plant. And about 3/4 of an ounce of the second.( only did 2). The bud was descent. also u must place lights hella close, like 1/8 of an inch, but dont let the leaves touch the bulbs.:peace:
