Ok this year I in the spur of a good idea decided to build myself a closet grow cab to grow myself a few plants. The dimensions of the space are 23"x22"x just under 5' tall.

This is the Area before Construction started

DSC00169.jpg

This is what the area looks like with the closet in place....its completely undetectable unless u go inside the closet and move the clothes
DSC00172.jpg

I made myself a basic frame using 2x4's. The frame is used to hold the doors in place and secure the bottom and top to the cab. The Cab is just about completely Light Proof, i still have to fix the door up a little bit as it does leak a little bit of light at the very top. To light proof the cab i cut up an old bathroom rug that was very shaggy and staples it to the 2x4's and the door so that when they close on each other they will make a lightproof barrier.
DSC00176.jpg

For lights at first, i just wired some old cords i had to some light receptacles but i found that they were too cluttered in the box, looked very unpleasant. So i went down to a thrift store near my house and picked up a bathroom vanity for like 2 dollars, The vanity was the perfect size for the cab i made. On top of the Vanity i made a hood out of tin oven trays i had lying around.

DSC00201.jpg

Right now ive only got 2x 29 watt 2200 lumen cfl's in the vanity because my plants have yet to sprout so i dont need to put all my lights in there yet. AS of right now the lights i have are :
2x 43 watt 2700 luman cool white cfl's
4x 29 watt 2200 luman cool white cfl's
4x 13 watt 1700 luman cool white cfl's

The Closet is wired right into the house power through my attic so there are no suspiscious cords lying around anywhere. The Closet is also vented via my attic. Right now there is a 10' ducting pipe going into my attic that is sucking air into my closet, My attic does have vents so the air inside isnt old stale air thats been there for 40 years.
The Exhaust fan is a 25 watt...not sure how much cfm it is... its just a small 4" fan that blows a decent amount. Right now its just beeing vented into the wall that goes out into the attic but i think i might try and get some more ducting and vent it right out one of the vent in the attic to get all the moisture out and not in the wall as some people say that it will in time lead to a much bigger problem.

For my Closet lining ive got this stuff that im hoping is mylar or will do as good a job. I was told that mylar can be found on the inside of those big metallic silver happy birthday ballons or on the other side of some gift wrapping papper, Unfortunatly the one i picked up has this very trippy pattern on it. It does still reflect but im not sure if it will negativly effect the plants... If any1 has any comments on it please do share.

And now for the stars of the show, the ladies. Right now i have 2 plants inside, They were germinated on the 5th of march and yesterday 2 of 3 were cracked and planted. They were almost unreal as far as size, i would say that they must have either doubled or tripled in size from the oringinal seed to the germinated seed. One is still germinating and getting bigger in size. As of today there are still no sprouts but im hoping maybe tomarrow or late today. I also have a pack of 48 seeds coming from cannabisseeds.com. The pack of seeds includes 24 white widow, 12 silver haze, and 12 hymalyian gold....best part is they are all FEMINIZED :bigjoint:

Please subscribe and post comments or advice or tips on indoor or outdoor growing. Thanks:bigjoint: Last year my friend bought seeds from them and they were very decent for the price, came within a week and for a begginer u couldnt ask for a better deal. My plan as of right now, with a pretty good chance of changing, is to plant the majority of the seeds i get outdoors for my summer grow. Last year was my first time and i think there is alot of room for improvement. From about 5 females out of the 20 plants in total we had we only got about 2 o's dry which is pretty much garbage esspecially considering these were outdoor plants. Im not going to concern myself with it too much at the moment but closer to the time i plan on planing outdoor i would like to possibly germinate and veg the seedlings in this grow box, Maybe have the bottom section for the new plants, then have another platform about 1' from the bottom or so and keep that as a vegg area so while i have my plants vegging in the top i can still grow some clones and vegged plants without having to start from seeds. If i do manage to do it this way my plan would be to have a harvest cycle of 1 plant every 2 or so week. So in the vegg chamber there would be say a 8 week flowing old plant a 6 week, 4 week and a 2 week, etc. Then every time i harvest a flowered plant i could pull out a vegged plant from the bottom and a clone or 2 and stick them in the vegg area so there is a constant cycle, this is still in the planning stage since i havent had a successfull indoor grow yet and it will take me about 4 -5 months before i would have enough to get the cycle going.

March 10th-Day 1...18/6 Light Cycle
OK Good news today both of the seeds have sprouted
:weed:, and both of the cotyledon's are showing on both of them, hopefully these babies will turn into some juicy ladies.

Ive also started construction on my box again. after having little to do yesterday but wait for my seeds to sprout...which is like watching paint dry, i decided to go through with my idea of having a smaller area in the bottom of my box for cloning/ vegging. What i plan on doing is keeping everything in the bottom in 4-6" pots while they vegg, keeping them at a max of 12-18 inches. Does any1 know if a pot of that size would be enough for a 1 foot tall plant??, would it be alot better to just go with a bigger pot, im kind of limited to space so i would like to keep them small. they would be transfered into a bigger pot when the go into the top area for vegging but again im trying to go for max yeild with a limited amount of space.

March 11--Day 2...18/6 Light Cycle
So far Both of the sprouts are taking to their new homes very well. Yesterday i did start some new construction on my box, unfortunately i need the house to myself before i can continue and finish because of the noise id be making in my room with the circular saw. Anyways like i said both of the plants have sprouted as of yesterday and today there second set of leaves are very visible and starting to grow.

I also PH'd the water in my reservoir today to about 6. Ive never really had a problem with the tap water coming from my house. Usually the plants will take it straight from the tap with chlorine in it and its ph being in the 7's. Nonetheless i do have a ph testing kit with ph down so i figured it wouldnt kill me to give the plants 1 more reason to become female and deliver some juicy crops. Im also still waiting on my seeds to be delivered from Cannabisseeds.com, hopefully they should be getting here soon because i would like to plant a few of them early so i can move them outdoors when the weather here premits.

March 12---Day 3

Today is day three and the plants are doing great, the first set of leaves are really starting to open up, there are no signs of stretching on either of the plants as i have the lights very close to the top of the sprouts.

Thats just a normal Bic in the pot touching to soil. Just an example of how close lighting actually needs to be to prevent stretching.

Just to give some more loving touch i decided to give my ladies some names.

Also yesterday i decided to go out and buy an emergency blanket from walmart, cost about 3 bucks. Someone told me the stuff i had in there wasn't good for the plants but after i ripped it all down i realised that its literally identical to the emergency blanket but had a design on it which wouldnt have effected the plants at all. Im going to try and finish up the construction on my box today as i think i may get the house to myself for an hour or two. Its almost haunting how many ideas i get to making the grow cab better and better, but i cant keep redoing it all everytime i get an idea. One good one i had which i may imply once i go into the flowering stage is setting up perminante side lighting around half way up in the top part of the box. After all of the reading i have done regarding CFL grows its a crutial part of the flowering stage to get light to the lower parts of the plant not just the top canope, it will promote additional bud growth and higher yeild is never a bad thing.

March 14--Day 5

So plants are still alive today :-P

I bought some plant starter ferts today at the store, im going to try and water one of the plants with a very diluted mix of the stuff and hopefully i wont kill the seedling. at worst ill still have 1 plant left and ill know not to use it again

Ive also officially finished my grow cab. Its got the vegging chamber in the lower 18" giving it about 12" of room to grow before it hits the lights. Its also all lined with the emergency blanket material and the tempurature is alot higher in there now that i have the doors back on. Its not too hot but just a nice warm temp, not sure exact numbers as i still havent picked up a thermometer to put inside.

This is the Flowering Cab, Its got over 2' of room to grow in so it should be a good size for indoor plants

and this is the Vegg Cab, Just underneath and has about 1' of room to grow in

March 15--Day 6

Yesterday i watered Bella with some water with about 1/4 strength seedling ferts. Jasmine is still being watered with PH'd water from my reservoir... Both of the plants have there second set of leaves very visible, im hoping tomorrow they will open up into some true leaves.

March 19--Day 10

Ok its been a few days since ive posted but the plants are still doing well. They do have a little colour change in the tips of the first set of true leaves, just the tips are slowly turning a redish brown so if any1 knows whats going on and how i can fix it it would be much appreciated to let me know. I transplanted both of the plants into much larger containers, not completely sure of the size but look to be about 1 gallon or so. As far as my plans are, these will be my final pots for the plants. Right now i can fit about 6 with quite a bit of room so im hoping to either stick with a 6 plant SOG cycle or possibly depending on how long the plants take to flower 4 much larger pots which would deffinatly give me bigger plants but im not sure that with my confined area that would be the best choice.

Also some good news is i picked up a plant off someone i know. He had 5 growing and didnt like how small one of them was so he tossed it to me and i gladly took it. It was in a clear water bottle cut in half so im guessing the roots were being damaged by the lights seeing as how the roots were very visable in the bottle. The good news is that its the exact same age as all my other plants. It has been transplanted into the smaller containers that i started out with and i should transplant it again once its a little bigger. Just shows what the smallest things can do to help a plant out, mine are much larger then the one i received and are the same strain as they were from last years outdoor harvest.

I also picked up a thermometer finally and put in the last 2 43w 2700 luman cfls into the vanity for the flower chamber, with the extra 2 bulbs my over all temp is rising to a little over 30c so im probobly going to get a small fan inside the cab because thats the temp with the temp outside being below 0c so once summer rolls around it would be an inferno in there.

Looking good man. Pretty cool about the extra plant. When your plants are done You'll have to give your buddy a few nugs to let him know what he threw away :)

you should put your light at an angle because they give off more energy from the side rather than the top...veryyyyy nice set up man clean as hell and very well thought of
