cfl vs. hps/mh

I've been on the site for a short time and it occurs to me that there are two schools of thought on indoor growing. Is it possible that cfl's are the way of the future? I've referenced GK's "Buds for Less" and poppinsmokey's grow and it seems extremely efficient. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

It's a matter of personal preference that has been beat dead into the ground on these forums. each has it's pros and cons. if you search the threads, you will find that everyone has their own preferred lighting method. it's a personal choice you need to make based on the amount of money you want to spend and the work you want to do on your grow room.

cfl is not the best way to go for veg. mh is the lumens dont compare even close to it. restricted space is usualy why people use them or thier afraid of power usage

CFL's are just as effective (if not more) than any other artificial light for plant growth, but you need a lot of them, and you need to make sure that they are of proper spectrum, and they are the easiest to grow with, and the cheapest. Defiantly not the best though.

oh they do work. but you need an awfull lot of em to compare to a mh and then what are you going to do with the heat they make. they are good for suplemental lighting

I wanted to say all of this originally, I was just trying to be nice about it. I hate getting involved in the "great debate"
