CFL Wrap Around

I want to adress the question of using clear pots for growing weed. "Yes" it's possible.

Well I dont use clear pots, but green tinted pots. I use a standard 2L pop bottle with the top cut off, and 3 holes bored into the bottom with a sharp knife. Notice I leave the label on the bottle and use the top of the label as where to make my cut, also with sharp knife, although I'm sure scissors would also work. The green tint protect the roots from light, even bottles where I had peeled the label completely off had no root damage.

These picks are of a plant I have right now in 2L bottle, and it looks like it may just grow the single biggest bud of all my current plants. also the last pic. is the only other plant I have using a 2L, except this ones only 4 weeks into flowering, where the previous one is just over 5 weeks into flowering

I've managed to curb the heat a little, it's down to 91o. I'm using fans and trays of ice and it seems to help a bit. Amazingly despite the mites, pesticide and heat ranging from 92o-99o some plants have just begun thriving.

Bud growth seems to be exploding, and the only reason why, I can think of is the fact there is less mites, and I'd also flushed them about 4 days ago with filtered water.

Although, I saw this thing on the news where this 'corn' crop just finished 2 weeks earlier because of abnormally hot temps, and the corn looked great too! The heat had just caused it to grow faster somehow. I don't think this is happening to my plants, but maybe it's possible? I know sometimes pot can tollorate 100o temps but usually not indoors. Personally I'm praying for cooler weather soon, for my sake and the plants, sounds like it could be another week.

sounds like your ventilation is good, otherwise cooked crop i think
on the other hand, maybe it cooked the little mite f'ers

I wish the heat would kill the mites, apparently it just makes them breed faster, and I can attest to this. I never like to have to use a pesticide mid-flowering, but with the hotter temps, came more mites. I did end up killing 1 plant too, but it was a crappy one to begin with, it was some bag seed. But everything is going nicely now, it even cooled down slightly today.

I'm going to start construction on my new grow box as well, some pics will be coming soon.

Coming along nice for sure man get them temps down whatever it akes but other than that the bud quallity still looks great

Tanks for all the encouragement guys. I wasn't even sure I would have any living plants after this heat wave in my area. I think Growone was right, it must have been the sheer amount of air circulation that saved my plants in the end, because there was about 2.5 days were my grow room was hitting between 98-100o mid-day. So If anyone reading is also going through a heat wave, if you can't control you're temp. at least make sure there is plenty or air circulation.

I've been talking about building a new grow box, and I am happy to say I have just completed it. Although there is no venting, lighting, or bubbleponic yet, it is housing a few seedlings. I will post some photos quickly showing how I made it. Supplies were very simple, I used Coroplasty (corogated plastic), duck tape, a small saw, and some wood. That's it.

So $80 for what you see so far. The dimensions are 32' wide, 38' tall, and 19' deep.

There shouldn't be many more costs since I have already have built my bubbleponic system, and I just need to transfer my lights. I'll be mounting my 130 watt CFL to a new reflector I bought as well.

The Bubbleponic parts and new reflector costs around $100 too. It's expensive compaired to the box I'm using right now, which I made out of recycled material and a $20 chunck of plywood. Using soil and some pots I found outside, my first grow only cost about $200 total, and that's including seeds, and the expensive 130 watt CFL I bought. But I thought I would spend a little more this time and make a box which is exactly what I want, and the same with my bubbleponic system, (which hopefully works).

I had looked at buying some pre-made hydroponic systems, and or grow chambers, but it seemed more in the spirit of CFL growing to build everything yourself.

damn dude those plants are looking great and propz on that stealth box...that looks badass..ya my next grow ima deff do it right and order hydroton and the correct nutes and stuff online cus mine are looking pretty good but they deff dont look like ur stuff....granted u already have good stuff and good seeds...only 1 of my plants was a really good seed. but looking good man keep it up....ima try to b on here more...iv been so busy lately. peace man

I just harvested my 'topped' Shiva plant @ just under 8 weeks of flowering. Since it was grown from a clone this should be more than enough time. There were 2 things was looking at when growing this plant. First, would topping produce more bud? and second. Would plenty of root space produce more bud, like everyone was saying it would.
Well here's my answers. Yes topping, even though it 'stresses' the plant, it will produce more bud.
And no, adding more root space did squat. As you will see from my next plant, which was grown in half the amount of soil, will still likely yield the same if not more. And that plant wasn't even topped.

Alright, some of you may remember me talking about this 50/50 cross I made, which I dubbed Geronimo. Well here's the first time I've really been able to see what the bud would look like. This particular plant seems to have quite a bit of Sativa genetics, as it looks much different than some other Geronimos, but it still gained the heavy yielding from it's Duch Treat (indica) father. The plant was grown in a 2L pop bottle, and has gone through mites and a heat wave, but is still a champ. Even though the plant has almost no fan leaves left, I can tell the buds will be really dense, and look like great smoke. Again this was a mix of Dutch Treat and Ty Lights.

These last 2 photos are of 2 other plants I also have flowering, both are Shiva, enjoy.

Any idea of what this could be, it started at the very tips of the fan leaves and slowly moved down the leaf. u should use just water at the end...it gives u that natural taste but with a unnatural l high...meaning that it taste like wild bud but it gets u high like a hyper should.

Here's some pics of 4 of my 5 remaining plants, I have yet to harvest. There are 2 Shiva on the left, and 2 Geronimo on the right. These guys have from 1 - 2 weeks left in their flowering period. They're starting to look a little haggard now. I'm not sure how some people keep so many fan leaves late into flowering. Although i'm sure the mites and the heat wave which produced 99o temps in my grow room didnt help any.
