Cfl yield per plant? whats everybody getting these days

How much power did you have on those girls if I might ask and what did you have to do to get a monster like that also where did you get those flexable looking socket adapters those interest me for some reason.

Also op your bud was not dry im not trying to slander or anything give advice but when I say this your weed was wet still and might mold your weight is still wet weight I can guarantee it I would take it out of the jar and atleast put it in a paper bag before you find out the hard way.

What I tend to do the day before the chop is leave the lights off and have total darkness for 24 hours what this does is allow all the sugars and left over nutes and stuff leech back into the stock then after the chop is done trim fairly well then hang the whole plant or cut off into branches upside down to dry for 4 days in darkness then paper bag for 2 then jar it.

I should mention that after about the 3rd day of hanging I give a final trim as the hairs at this time have started to tighten up and close in and the sucker leaf that's left will be kinda curled yet far enough away from the hairs to trim decent and make your nugs pretty

Also note that weed takes about a good week of drying to really be smokeble i have seen a bud smoked at just 4 days but its not likely even with just a quarter oz plant.

And my veg time was 2 months and 2 months flower
lol. It completely depends on the environment you're in. if you're at a really low humidity, it could dry easily in 3 days. so your statement may be true for the area you're in, but not everyone lives in the same environment as you.

This is fascinating to me…. I'm new to this and soaking up info like a sponge, but so much is contradictory. One guy I saw on a video made all kinds of scientific references to why MJ only uses two areas of the light spectrum -- 2200-2700 and 5500-6500 -- and that everything else is purely ineffective, the plants simply can't utilize anything in the 3000-4000 range. Obviously, that can't be the whole story or Sherman420's buds would not be as nice as they are.

I'm enjoying using small (23w - 42w) bulbs in my first grow, because I can mix up the spectrum keeping heavy on the 6500's for veg and heavy on the 2700's for flower, but having some of everything in the mix (kind of simulating full spectrum). Time will tell.
Hey Humanrob,

I read the same thing about 3000K-4000K issue. I never really put too much thaught into it, the place I buy my CFL's from only stock's 3000K 13 watt and 23 watt bulb's. When I cultivate auto's I use an equal mix of 6500K and 3000K bulb's.For photo's I alway's use 6500K for veg(less stretch, seem's like summer to them) and 3000K to flower(they think fall is on the horizon). It seem's to work for me. I know one thing to hold true, is that you cannot overdue it with CFL's, the more lumen's the better. My small box is so lit up it's crazy. You know your doing something wrong when your plant's stretch like crazy even before flower, I know I've been there. Indica's should look like a little bush before flower. If they don't when you flip them to 12/12 you will quickly run out of space.

Anyhow, just my two cent's, hope this help's.

The more I read, the more I find that everything one person says you can't do, another is doing just fine with. Somewhere in all of the opinions and experiences, there are optimal circumstances for each given set of initial conditions. So we each have to find our own sweet spots with our specific setup.

I hear you about not being able to overdue it with CFL's in terms of lumens, but I have run into issues with too much heat, which kind of surprised me. I'm still fine tuning my grow spaces but I think they're both light optimized and heat to air movement balanced now. If anything worth sharing comes of this first grow, I'll post some pics.

Hey Humanrob,

I hear you about the heat issue. I have a 440 CFM 6 inch hurricane fan with a variable speed controller. The air exchange in my box is quite substantial. The fan is hooked up to a 200 CFM carbon filter that features a "pull or push" air option. When it gets cold I turn it down and if it gets too warm, you guessed it, I turn it up. It's the best investment I've made. However, I can only run the fan at half speed maximum or I'll shorten the life of my filter seeing it's only rated for 200 CFM. You're right, it's all about finding the sweet spot and what work's for you. Here's some pictures of my setup and my Nordic Jack. She will be ready for her first major LST next weekend.

Beautiful setup Sherman! In light of the topic of the this thread, I'll be looking forward to seeing how the Nordic Jack does. :)

oh yea with a couple of 55 or 65w 300 eqv cfls temps will climb at that point they become less efficient don't get me wrong they work ok in a pinch but at some point you just aren't saving any $$ on cost at all. start with em then upgrade . they work great for side lighting but also add extra heat if you use the bigger ones temps do go up so now you would have hid and cfl adding to temps

everyone wierds out on 3000k or 5000k or 6500 k, years ago i grew with just ONE bulb, a single 4000k metal halide all the way thru, grew fantastic buds, so here you go, your pot will grow and it will bloom and bud and veg with light, some "K" is better for certain phases, but ultimatley they will all grow, so many people over think how to grow a weed

This entire thread is a perfect example of why cfl shouldn't be used. :wall:

Personally I equate my style to this;

You can catch a two hundred pound Tarpon using a stout rod, large spinning reel and heavy braided line(HID lights). However, I too can catch that same Tarpon on a fly fishing outfit. I may struggle more and have to play the fish longer(CFL'S) but in the end it's all relative. Just more finness with the fly rod!

Just my two cents,

You aren't going to catch a 200 pound Tarpon using cfl. Get an HPS rod.

I don't think that's a good analogy. I yielded about a pound from 240W of vero 18 light, and this thread started off showing 62g of pot grown under 300W cfl. Ridiculous.

I've tried flowering with fluorescent about 10 years ago and flowering was delayed and yield was way smaller than with the same wattage of HPS. Flowering with fluoros is a waste of time...

dang ch you got 2g a watt!

As you might have read i am on my first vero grow and working with 360 watts of vero 29 4k. Any tips for yield and quality much appreciated. I use soil, 7 gal fabric pots, three plants in a 2 x 4 space.
