Cfls making little leaves turn straight up??

Hey. I have two Hima. Golds that have their third sets of leaves justbarely coming on. Thus far I had them sitting by a southern window to germ and sprout and all. But, I wanted to put them under some cfls to experiment and see how they grew. I read that if they got a foot tall or so pretty soon, I could put them outside and maybe get a harvest by late april or early may, but even if thats not true, I want them to start now becasue they are going outside to a permanent home. Heres the question: The grow space is about 2x2x3. I have two heat lamps hanging from the top with a 100 watt natural light cfl in each. I put one plant directly under each light about an inch away last night. This morning, there had been no growth it seems. The only thing that happened was the two big leaves turned straight up towards the light almost touching. The little new leaves hadn't grown at all and this was after all night of lights. The only difference was the big leaves turning straight up. This seems to me like its not good. I want growth, not whats happening. Any suggestions on what to do? Should I remove the heat lamp shield things from them? Should I center them between the two lights instead of putting them directly beneath? By the way, I am growing in organic soil with chicken, cow and guano ferts to come. Please help me out, or I guess this is the end of my indoor attempts.Peace.

what nutes are in the soil what is the ph of soil, water, run off. what is the temps, humidity. Try backing the lights up another inch. If you put your hands right above the plant your hand should NOT get hot if hand gets hot so does plant. I would need more info to help you better.

They were in those jiffy peat pot starter things that can put directly in the ground. The soil was jiffy seed starter. Now, as of about five minutes ago they are in small 3 gallon buckets, with cow manure, garden top soil, perlite and guano. I just transplanted them a little bit ago, and this time I put them between the two lights so that they will be getting light from both sides but it won't be as intense as before. I guess I'll just have to check and see. That jiffy seed starter stuff drys out and gets hard super fast. Is two hundred watts of 6500k natural light enough to at least grow them up to make them stronger to go outside?

One more question. In the southern states, if I get these up to say a foot tall or so by the of march, can I put them outside and yeild a bud harvest before summer really hits?

Well from reading about light intensity plants leaves sometimes stretch for light at the center of a light source, the light from the window sill wasn't as intense as when U put the Cfl bulb close 2 the plant, so the plant stretch upward toward the light, so that the plants foliage can catch the maximum amount of light possible. Hope that can answer ur question.
