The damn plants look just.fine to me. Looks like they thrived
That is exactly what I do, after vegging my plants and using CFLs to do so, I turn on my 400 watt HPS and that takes over from there during the rest of the flowering stageWait till you put em in and flower... You'll stop using cfl's after that lol

Lol yep cfl for veg then 400w hps for floweringLol exactly what you do eh?
True, I used to only use CFL lights until I got my HPS system, much better results with the HPS 400 watt, at least during the flowering stageCfl will grow bud all day. Pretty much any light will. I use t5 myself.
I could give the hps a run for its money with my t5 and I think mixed spectrum weed is better.True, I used to only use CFL lights until I got my HPS system, much better results with the HPS 400 watt, at least during the flowering stage
I have never used the T5 setup I have only used the spiral CFLs which are not that great compared to T5, much better coverage with the T5 setup. that sounds awesome, getting more of a spectrum too that's great.... I might change my setup someday but right now I have 2 68w cfl's or 400w metal halide to choose from for vegging and 400w hps for flowering is the only light that produced enough lumens for my plantsT5 is more powerful than cfl.
Some think they are saving heat with t5 or cfl. I would wager that my 432 watt t5 runs hotter than your 400 hid. Cfl would be worse. 400 watts is 400 watts and cfl is the least efficient and the most heat. Newer t5's are on par with hid. At least with an hid you can run a air cooled hood.
I like the mixed spectrum including UV. To me it makes a better product.
I think I will eventually be running a mix of cob led and some t5.
I wouldn't worry so much about lumens. Lumens are the measurement how the human eye sees light and has little bearing on plants.that sounds awesome, getting more of a spectrum too that's great.... That is very interesting, I will try that and also do some research on that, but I have my metal halide sitting right in front of me and I think I am about to try it, thanks a lot for the help man. You really seem like you know what you're doing, appreciate itI wouldn't worry so much about lumens. Lumens are the measurement how the human eye sees light and has little bearing on plants.
Use your mh for the first and last two weeks of flower and check out what it does.
I don't claim to be an expert. Just been playing in the dirt growing some sort of plant since I could walk. I still screw up every once in a while. That is very interesting, I will try that and also do some research on that, but I have my metal halide sitting right in front of me and I think I am about to try it, thanks a lot for the help man. i know what you mean... the more you grow, the more knowledge you gain and experience... i've been growing for several years but most of us are all still learning and experimenting, even with years and years of experience. Personally i switched from dirt to hydro a couple years ago. Still learning and experimenting...I don't claim to be an expert. Some people even run two hid in the same room. A mh and hps side by side for mixed spectrum.
With those LED bulbs you can remove the diffuser and point them straight at the plant.I actually grabbed a couple packs the other day...
They're on stand by until flowering when I'll add more lights...
