Champagne + purple, medical, 1st grow

Aha! Thanks man.. Can't wait to be poppin' bell jars in a couple months. the trichs are already starting to cover the leaves around the bud sites..

35 days to to go and then its on to the NL and top 44..

Update: Keeping temps over 76F now 24/7 to fight mold and increased airflow have allowed for some serious bud swell over the past 5 days. I was finally able to pickup a Hanna PH meter for my res and it is working well. Soil PH is sticking right at 6.3 and being halfway through flower I am still watering with the full botanicare lineup.
 
Here is the RUNT of the litter showing some serious resin development on the leaves around the budsites at day 25 of flowering my first grow.... The powdery mildew hasn't shown its face again, and the Co2 enrichment seems to be paying off in the space with some bud swell...

yeah it is an insane picture. If I can even get close to that level of trich development I'll be stoked. Champagne is 50% hashplant after all... It is also supposed to be a low odor yet big yielding strain. From what I've seen in bud development over the first 27 days, Champagne is definatley a big producer. There are even random budsites down near the soil that came out of nowhere on the lower-most stalks and are still filling out well.

Serious bud swell only 4 weeks into flowering on the champagne! Spoke with a bc grower and he said to expect a good yield from the strain, as well as it being a very resilient plant. The purple kush runt is also doing well, here are the pics. They are very yellow due to the hps.. Nothing I can do about that...

25 Days and counting!!

I plan on using ice water and 3 days of darkness to force ripen and yield more thc at that point, then trim, hang the buds, and bubble bag the trim while the buds cure...

Should I update on the 1 month old Nirvana Northern Lights and Top 44 in veg? The Top 44 smells extra DANK already!
 
Looking good mcone. ice water huh? I've never heard of that but it sure makes my nipples hard. LOL Love the shot of pk up close. That runt is gonna be dank.

I got the ice water/darkness idea from growyourownmedicine.blogspot.com.. Jorge Cervantes bible also mentions a day of darkness to increase thc. So the day I would've harvested, I will water the girls with ice water (around 32F), pack some ice around the pots, and turn off the lights for 2-5days to 'shock ripen.'
I am told its best to harvest once the plants have used up the ice water and start to dry out again.
I hear this will coat the buds with trichs like you've never seen before...

Maybe I'll harvest 2 plants and shock ripen 4 to see if there is a difference?..

FLOWERING DAY 33 UPDATE:

Pistols are starting to turn orange on the buds, trichs are getting a litttle milky on the leaves, and things seem to be progressing faster than the allotted harvest time. (60-65 Days)
I am reading that Co2 enrichment can speed flowering by 1-2 weeks.. Anyone have experience with this?.. It may be an earlier harvest than I had expected (good thing)... :weed:
 
Harvested the smallest Champagne plant today, when it showed a re-emergence of powdery mildew.. Sprayed the rest of the girls with Serenade and will be watching them closely for the next 14 days until harvest.. I tossed all the effected leaves and plan on bubble bagging the entire plant after a very fast dry (due to the mildew)..

I got the clones for free, though they were severely messed up... Even If I had to pay for them, I would still be satisfied. It grows like hell, has a good yield, very low odor, good trich coverage, and is very resilient to pests/stress/burn etc.. I have had mold, spider mites, severe light burn, overcrowding, over heating, and they're still doing great. If you are a advanced grower this strain can do well, but I wouldn't say its better than White Widow or Purple Kush, though it is much easier to grow and finishes in 60-65 days (less with Co2)
 
Yo Kho, I will definately be finishing the journal off with a Champagne smoke/strain/grow report, watch for it after harvest. :bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:
As of right now, I have smoked some of the buds that were harvested 2 weeks early at day 36 (using Co2 and expecting a 50 day flower) and it was an immediate soaring high that left me pretty speechless.. Its rumored to be a 50/50 sativa/indica hybrid (or 70/30... But I cannot confirm either yet).

I bubble bagged the harvested girl today :blsmoke: once all the buds and trim were nice and dry and crispy. I'd say it yielded 3 to 5 grams of keif ;-), but this was a very early plant after all.. I don't know whether this is good or bad yield but I'm alright with it because powdery mildew isn't around my other healthy plants anymore..
