Change from soil to hydro, good idea or not?

What!?! 'Soil is less forgiving than Hydro'???? LOL First time I've heard that. Let's see, try PH'ing your Hydro solution at 8 walk away for a day and take a soil plant in the same room and PH it's water to 4 and walk away for a day.... then tell me what medium is more forgiving. Or have a water pump go out on you and come back 24 hours after the pump has gone out vs forgetting to water for a few days in soil and tell me about which is more forgiving.

Soil's downside is also its upside. Soil is way slower acting so it gives you a lot of room to make errors along the way without too much negative reactions. But because it is a slower uptake you will not see the explosive growth that the quick acting Hydro will give, ever.

Now when you make mistakes and have to flush, Hydro is much easier and you will see the fix much faster. Hydro is easier in lot's of aspects but learning plant diagnosis is harder because you have lo to act much faster. So if you don't have a good basic understanding of how to diagnose a plant stick with soil long enough to get a basic understanding of that before you go Hydro and it will make it much easier.

The only thing with hydro is you just need to keep a spare pump or two on hand. Not a big deal as they are dirt cheap. What other system can you leave for 5-7 days and come back and everything is still pumping along (as long as you have everything dialed in).
