Changing lighting times

Hey all, I'm currently growing 4 of my freebies, one of which is an auto other 3 are photos and I switched them to 12/12 this weekend. I work 1 week night and 1 week days shifts. When on days I get up at lights out time and come back in at lights on time. So my question is would I be able to take out my auto at lights off on a morning and put her back on a night giving her 24 hours daylight but then the next week when I work nights leave her in for only the 12 hours as I'll be at work/bed for lights on/off or do autos need a constant light schedule?

I don't think your lighting schedule is going to matter since she's predetermined on when she'll flower. Definitely no expert, but I have had autos mixed in with photos n they still didn't change until it was time, even after I flipped from 24 to 12/12.

Autos need a minimum of 16/18 hours constant light in order to grow to their full potential, so never mix them with regular plants. For veg they're ok, but when you go to 12/12, that's when the problems will start. For the sake of your other plants I would shitcan the auto and focus on the photos.
Also, you need a timer or you are going to fuck up the cycle, because they will freak out if their cycle is all over the place.
Good luck

Hi folks, Can I get yalls opinión on light scheduling for autos. I have a photo that’s flowering on its last two weeks so it’s on 12/12. And two weeks ago I started an auto and it’s doing fine. I’m wondering, will I be able to switch to 18/6 with my auto in two weeks when my photoperiod is finished? Or should I keep her on 12/12 since that’s how I started her. I know 18/6 is best for autos, but i wanted to see what would happen if I gave my auto 12/12. I have looked at the posts but no one has spoken about adding more light so if anyone has an idea on the consequences of adding 6 more hours of light on the 3 1/2 week of an auto I would appreciate it. Thank yall

Autos are not photosensitive. They do not use light hours to determine their biological clock or flowering. This means you can treat them like any other house plant .give them it when you want.take it away when you want. This is the main reason I'm trying one out and I havent got it on a timer, I turn the light on when I wake up turn it off when I go to bed. Some days she gets 10 12 14 or 16 hrs. Obviously if you want a good result you wanna aim for around 14-16. My opinion is all plants use the dark period to aid growth

While you may be correct Autos love light the more light the fatter buds you'll have from what I've read and experienced. Autos are sensitive plants from the lights to the nutes to get the full potential from them they have to be taken care of just like a photosensitive plant. IMO the biggest difference between the 2 is a photo plant has time to recover from stress and with Autos you pretty much have to be on point with things or your overall results will suffer

Kyle Kushman recommends 20/4. I think he mentioned about mimicking the extreme north summer cycle of the ruderalis (sp) yeah always heard 24 hours is good. I grew a indica on a Alaskan light cycle that tapered down to 4 hours of light by the time I harvested. It was dynamite smoke.

At THE LEAST 18/6 ..... Throwing an auto in 12/12 ( for any reason ) gives less than stellar results. Autos love light ( lots of light ) their life cycle is internally wired so once you pop them , they are racing to finish.

Autos are worth it unless you run shitty dwarfs or lowryder so giving her the attention will get you some sweet bud. Since my grows are for my use only I prefer autos to keep the shelves stocked. Photos have pros and cons too , but there is something special when you see the quick bud sites forming.

hey bro - im running my autos at 18/6. Energy savings isnt really anything I am worried about and what would 2 more hours really cost. So would you bump it up to 20/4 or keep at 18/6. Been running 18/6 since first week of December. I have also read min should be 18/6, but I also read that 24/0 doesnt really make much of a difference. So any real life stats - for i.e 24/0 produced x amount more vs 18/6 vs 20/4. Does anyone have any factual #s?

I run mine 24/0 one reason is I use the Exhale co2 bag and in order for plants to use they must have light. Running my whole set up 24/0 cost me like 45 a month so I choose to keep the light going

To me personally ... I really didn't see the value of 20/4 or so. For me the ONLY benefits you can gain from the plant isn't the schedule .... It's the grow environment and conditions of your grow ... feeding them right , little to no stress , light training and just letting them do their thing .

Percentage wise , it was not really worth it for me as gains were not that much.
I like to do 18/6 MOSTLY to give my lights a break , not the plants.
18 hours on is plenty for great plant growth , with dark time 6 hours that just keep a natural night and day routine. Even though this mimics long days , it is the normal cycle to use. Plants are grown with 20/4 or 24/0 - user preference. There are members here killing it with higher cycles ... If it won't be an issue , then run them , just keep it the same seed to chop.

Actually , for AUTOS - Do Hempy grows or hydro . These will grow bigger plants.
I do 100% perlite Hempy from time to time and they grow about a good 1/3 bigger than my grow pots in soil .
