CHEAP, but QUALITY homemade soil

So i've searched for threads about making your own homemade soil, but the mixes always start with bags of premade soil or involve composting stuff.

my budget's tight. and foxfarms is just too expensive for big ass grow bags. and need to know how i could make a lot of great soil for when my baby ladies grow up.

i've got a TON of horse manure. and i mean a ton. but what else can i throw in there to get the majority of the soil? i have a little amount of miracle grow i could use. i have very rich black swamp soil. any ideas or help is appreciated. and dont forget to mention smaller ingredients like worm castins or whatever!

dank you.

I just answered this very same question for another member, and what I told him was...

You'd be better off with Llama or Sheep shit, but all forms of dookie have all sorts of bacterias and vitamins that enrich soil.

The proper compost your looking for is a nitrogen rich compost. Commonly, the things used for nitrogen rich compost are things like manures, food scraps, or green leafy clippings.(like the type of clippings you commonly have left over after making bubble hash.bongsmilie)

The other items used for composting are more commonly used to make a carbon rich compost. To make this compost, you'd be breaking down things like sawdust, peels, shredded paper sacks, HAY(yup),egg shells, or ash. These are of little use to you.

If you thinking about getting into composting manure, you'd be well advised to get yourself some bloodmeal & bonemeal. If you ever have any problem with it not getting hot for you, just add some of the bloodmeal and a little of the bonemeal, and it'll heat right up for ya'.

If your using horse manure, it wouldn't hurt for you to pick up a couple gallons of THIS, and use it to keep your compost heap damp. It'll make it even better for your ladies.

Food for though, brah!

Dont forget! You can always buy things like bat guano, and worm castings from the net to add!

(1) forget the Miracle Gro! The horse manure is a great additive if it's aged. Pick the best shit you got, add a bale of sphagnum peat moss, a bag each of perlite and vermiculite, a bag of Miracle Gro *Organic Growers Choice* potting soil (cheap), some of that black swamp soil you have and you should be good to go. You might want to add some dolomitic lime (not hydrated) and maybe some blood meal and bone meal. For $50 you can have an awesome pile of super soil that is as good as FF.

throw some cheap "supersoil" brand in there, perilite. some verm, a lil sand, dolomite lime, peat moss is always good, and some organic matter (compost works great) Check out subcools "super soil" thread in organics section, good stuff there.

edit: yeah blood meal bone meal GOOD stuff, all the stuff above posters said is great.

Look he's trying to grow more then one or two plants,
this is what u do go to lowes and buy spagnum peat moss
9.98 per bag 60gallons per bag,bam 20 dollars and u got 8sp ft of compost,
Then u take ur manure and put it on a tarp, go to the cteek and get u some sand lots of sand like 20gallons,
Then go back to the creek and get small rocks, some places will
pile up with rocks,jackpot,
Now look for pile ups, which is what I call them pretty much when it rain real hard the creek fills up and washes every thing down strem,
its lile piles of leafs and twigs, get 40gallons its light so is just the walk,
Now mix the sand with the menure so its not in clumps I make it into a dirt then pour the sand on it mix real real good then put it aside,

Now take ur peat moss and pour half of it out, then take ur Pile up and make it into almost a dust, well u could take out the lawn mower but don't over kill cause then its no good,
then mix it real reaL good with the peat moss
Then mix the menure all together, and u got good growing soil may mot have a lot of nuts but the roots will flow threw it real well, then water with blood meal bone meal fish emulsions, w.e u got...

U may won't to do 50-50/60-40 (natural soil, mix)

Now it may be a lil acidic, so u may need
But my friend has 15 10gallon buckets of straight mix, and 7 holes of 60-40mix 2*2 hole

May be a lil acidic so ph it,maybe some lime depending on ur home soil
,
21 plants 25.00 ;)

O..yeah...now we get to listen to ppl bitch
