cheap carbon filter setup effective?

Hello RIU. Until now I really haven't been concerned with my garden's odor but today the cable TV guy came by and had to do some work on the cable box in my backyard which is right next to the window of the room where my garden is. This made me a little nervous. I only have 6 plants now and don't ever expect to have more than 10 at a time, although I notice I can smell the garden from anywhere in the house. Money is also very tight so I was wondering... If I buy a carbon filter and just attach it to a small box fan, with no duct work at all, and place it in the grow room, would this make a worthwhile difference? I would not be blowing the air out of the room. If this would work, should I attach the filter on the back of the fan or on the front? Would it be better to just get some air fresheners? Maybe both? Any helpful hints on this for a poor person like me is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for reading all this. My stinkiest lady...

I don't know about your question but I keep Ozium on hand at all times.

You would want the fan to suck the air from your scrubber. I got my 4" fan/scrubber offa Ebay for around $130 from HTG Supply. $$$ is tight but the investment is worth it. Good luck

Thankyou MrBlanco and SotaFats for taking some interest. +Rep to you both. I can honestly say I have never heard of ozium, but I will look into it. To clarify my question, I was wondering if I just spend around $15 for a replacement filter, and attached that to a regular small boxfan, would that make a noticable difference or do I need to spend $100+?

i am deff indeed wondering how i can stop the smell of my stealth grow? i dont have very much money if any at all?

You can find Ozium in the auto section, by the air fresheners, at WalMart.

I saw a similar idea to what your thinking made with a big filter sitting in the middle of the grow room but I don't remember where. If all else fails you can always go the computer fan route and make your own filter. It'll cost about $20-30 depending on what you have on hand.

Alright everyone, as you probably already figured out, I did not realize how carbon filters are shaped. I was thinking they were flat. Turns out I have an old pc, so I pulled the fan and power supply, got a replacement filter and hooked it all up yesterday. I'm not blowing the air out of the room, but it makes a world of difference. Problem solved, thankyou for putting up w/my ignorance.

Set what up? Ozium or the Carbon filter?
