Cheap CFL Uk

Hi, iv searched the site but didn't find anything..

Im looking to setup for quite cheap.. Can anyone tell me a website that delivers to the uk from where i can buy a few small 60w cfls, not the big 125-250w envirolite things.. Also i'll need the thing for them to screw into, i think iv seen some that can hold mutliple bulbs so those would be useful.. Then all i need is the lead right? I have a plug in timer all ready. Im only planning a small grow, just one plant at a time so i wont need anything too heavy..

Anyone help me out please?
Thanks

easy fella, i remember when i first looked i couldn't find anything over 20W in the uk, don't know if it's an EU thing or what, you can get 23W ones from Osram: http://www.osram.co.uk/osram_com/Consumer/Home_Lighting/Energy_saving_lamps/Product_overview/10_year-life/OSRAM_DULUXSTAR_Mini_Twist/index.html.

But it's prob cheaper and easier to just go to your local Tesco, etc and get some 20W from there, they just take standard fittings - you can see 2 in my grow, wired to standard plugs btw think they are around the £1 mark now! Good luck :)

ez, i'd say about 200W's worth - but as many as you can. You going for different bulbs for veg and flower or use the same ones through the whole grow? If same ones get a mix of 6400k and 2700k.

The big ones (like the main one in my grow below) are indeed large screw in's the ones at tescos/screw fix are the standard size ones you get in your front room (like the 2 little ones in my grow below!) :D

Envirolights are good. But the small CFLS can be just as good, if you make the wattage the same you may even get better results, as they can be more evenly dispersed and whatnot rather than one fat one. its up to you, your space ect...

as in all on for 18/6 then all on for 12/12? well in all honesty that's what i'm doing mine are all red 2700k and it's not going badly at all. Next time though I will prob get a 6400k to start them off with and change.

But as Grow says it's horses for courses - some recommend strict blue and red periods, others say mixed spectrum all the way through and others just make use of what they can get ;)

ta very much, cool dude - just don't forget to vary the timings (if not autoflowring) :)

when i was looking all i could seem to fin at the B&Qs etc was Y splitters, you might be able to come across something like they use for vanity mirrors where you have 5 on a strip but i couldn't!

Just to add here for you, this company do offer 30watt 6500's 'daylight' blues, spirals...... I use them and they are a reliable company.

I agree as said above, Tesco's are the cheapest I have found for 22watt warm whites. You can pick these up anywhere though but the 6500's are harder to find on the high street.

The good thing with the smaller bulbs is that they are far easier to sight just where you want them!

Fittings are standard bayonet cap or screwers :-) Splitters are almost impossible to find in the UK so I wire 2 bulbs into each plug, do it carefully and there is no problem in doing this. ie: twist together the 2 lives and the 2 nuetrals and screw them down nice and tight then tighten the clamp screw down hard, no problems at all, been doing this for the last 2 years since I started using CFL's

Hope this helps, good luck.

Okay cool, i'll try that multi plug wire idea, where did you get your bulb fixing piece from?

How many of those 30watters would i need?
Are they suitable for flowering too?

Thanks bud =)

Yahn same question, which fixture do you use,

is it this kind of thing yes?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?menuno=12060

just wire two up to one plug?

Yep, those are the ones I use, £1.25 in B&Q's . And I wish now that I had bought the 'switched' ones as you can move bulbs around or have them out for cleaning without having to turn the whole lot off! Live and learn :-)

You can safely wire two of those to a single plug as said above. Don't do more than 2 though. I'm very careful about my wiring and make sure everything is screwed down nice and tight.

Hang on a minute, I'll grab a picture!
