Hey guys, first I know I shouldn't look to go cheap but it's the only thing in my budget right now and a cheap 400w hps is actually way cheaper than 400w worth of t5. I want hps bc either way I need an inline fan to scrub.

So I was just about to pull the trigger on apollo 400w hps w/ a cool tube reflector and a spare bulb for 150$ plus 60$ for an inline. Keeps right right around my max.

The question at hand is I've been reading mostly old post talkin about these all these low end digital ballast causing interference with electronics and cable. I have a wifi tv, xbox online about 10ft from the closet. The floor above me is satalight tv and the floor above that is where I get my modem and router is.
I also have neighbors very close and my state is not legal so stealth is deff important but I don't anyone is going to bother me. I just don't want to fuck up my tv (what's the good of having access to all the bud I want if I can't play video games and watch tv.. Yes I'm a grown up with a real job, don't judge me lol) and I don't need the cable or sat company knocking at the door.

So with budget in mind how safe am I using one of these? I'd like to order it ASAP. Should I just be looking at magnetic ballast. Heat is going to be an issue flower half of closet is 4x2x6.5. I can run the ballast from the veg part of the closet but really can't keep the ballast out of the closet.

And I need to get my girls out of veg ASAP bc they're getting to big and I need to get some harvest ASAP. If everything works out well in 2 months of flower I'll be in a much better financial place and can afford any light I want this is a quick fix to start me off. I don't want to spend a fortune and find out I suck at growing. I started my veg with 92w of diy cfl and it's working great. But that will be upgraded next. Possibly take the cheap 400w turn it down and buy a MH and use that to veg

Thanks in advance

10ft should be fine. i have stuff within 7ft from my 400w including a wifi and no problems. what made me choose the apollo in the end was when i read reviews. people often said they're ipower ballast ran very hot and loud and that the apollo ballast was cool running and silent. happiest purchase i've made.

Awesome. Yeah I'm in the states gonna look up low baller and order it to. Thanks that's what I needed to here. I'm sure if your cable and wifi is fine my neighbors would be also. And I've deff read more good reviews on apollo than bad. For 140$ of it last me 3 solid harvest I'll be happy

I have a 600w Apollo that has worked fine for 3 months, it does have a slight audible buzz but it runs very cool. The RF interference was only a problem with the first couple generations of cheap digital ballasts, now it isn't a concern. Not to mention, covering an aluminum encased ballast in aluminum foil just seems ridiculous.

400w apollo kit here with no problems. if you get one and its cold where you are, let the ballast sit out in the room and warm up to room temp. the timer they give you is POS too. i thought my ballast was blown right out of the box but ended up the timer was bad. I got a nice digital one from work with battery backup so if power goes out at least clock still runs.

I've heard that ballasts of the same brand and model, some may have issues, others don't. I have a revolt ballast 400w from gotham hydro that seemed good while I used it but don't have those things to check interference of

I have an Ipower 400 watt ant the only thing I noticed wrong with it is sometimes my hps dosnt turn on right away otherwise it's quiet and runs cool
