You need a bigger socket for the larger CFLs. I have 2 250w (actual wattage) CFLs. One for veg and one for flower...Turns out 250w of CFL isn't enough to grow a couple of plants, the way I imagined the plants growing.

these arent CFLs, but LEDs. theyre normally expensive but this 'do it yourself' makes it pretty cheap. especially if you're gonna only have 2 plants, just order less quantity of the supplies. the LED's will save you on the electric bill and live longer as well. the downside is you'd have to order online or find a warehouse that sells this.
