Cheap scale, anyone know a good way to test it?

If someone is saving money buying a 7 dollar scale, you think they're gonna fork over ten bucks for a real calibration weight?

ya. you ain't got 20 bucks? no matter if I buy a $1 scale or a $1000 scale, I'd buy the calibration weight. the weight lasts a lifetime. the scale doesn't.... if I was buying weed, I'd sure as hell wouldn't be buying it from a dude who doesn't even know if his scale is accurate or not. and even if I wasn't buying weed and using the scale for personal use, I'd want it to be accurate... that's just me

I'm not saying it's a bad idea to have a calibration weight, I'm just saying someone buying a cheap scale probably doesn't care if it's perfectly accurate.

Personally I like my scales to weigh out to at least .01, not just tenths of a gram.

ya I hear ya..

I got a couple scales.ones that read from .01 to ones that read to tenths of a gram. just depends on the size.... and I also got a couple different calibration weights. 100g to 500g

I got a cheap digital in a head shop. I confirmed that an o from my good source is 8 times 1/8th of an ounce, and an eighth from my questionable source was an eighth only if you didn't tare the bag.

I never calibrated, and my questionable source is no longer a source.

well anyways, you do know why they sell calibration weights and most scales have a calibration setting? cause when used often, they need to be calibrated again at some point.. that's why any decent scale has a calibration system. it's not just set it and forget it. if it was, there would be no such thing as calibration

I just figure the scales that read to the hundredth are definitely good enough to weigh out bud sacks to the tenth of the gram. I was contemplating getting a scale that weighs out to the thousandth, you know, for loading ammunition or fine powders

Buy a gram of powder put it on your $7.00 scales if it weighs a gram your $7.00 scales are off...!
I have never bought a "G" that actually weighed a gram
