Cheapest grow possible, death likely

I started by just throwing a bagseed into the bottom half of a plastic water bottle with some wet dirt and let it sit in my window sill about March 1st. After two weeks it sprouted and I just left it in the window sill in the bottom half of a water bottle. I made a janky grow box out of aluminum foil and a cardboard box. Then I moved the plant to a pickle jar and added a $13 under cabinet fluorescent light but there was no drainage so I moved it to an actual plastic pot which I had lying around. I put new miracle grow soil in the new pot. It started growing lots of new roots but the first fan leaves started turning yellow so I added miracle grow tomato food (just a few pinches nothing precise). After the nutes it started growing leaves like crazy. I'll add pictures of what I have so far and post a better timeline since my plant has been taking a particularly long time.

Total cost:

$13 light

Obviously this is a barebones cheap as possible first time grow. I hope to not spend more than the $13 for the flourescent light but I may buy another for extra light when the plant gets larger. I've been looking in to getting a work light with an incandescent bulb and replacing it with a cfl for extra light but the plant seems happy enough without it for now. The MG obviously isn't designed for cannabis but it's better than plain water for the plants life and since I already have some tomato food and bloom booster it fits with my barebones grow.

My hope for this grow is to get two clones and maybe a few buds, but being that I abused it early in life and that it's just old bagseed I fully expect it to die before cloning or flowering. Any words of advice or thoughts on my plant or my techniques are greatly appreciated.

I made a new taller box so I have some room to grow now. More interestingly the last two days I put the plant in the sun while it was out and I could get direct sunlight on it and its been making it grow faster as far as I can tell

So this plant is about 2 months old?

Dude, you're never gonna get there at this rate. That is ridiculously small for a plant seeded around the first of March.

Yeah it's growing super slow because the first month I didn't do anything to take care of it. Even now I only have a 15 watt T8 18" flourescent light on it. I know it needs way more light but I don't want to spend any money on it

unfortunately mostly bad news in this update. first if all I tried FIMMING but because i'm a noob I just ended up cutting the tops of the new leaves off deforming them and making the whole plant go into shock I guess because it stopped growing for a while.

then I noticed that twi if my biggest leaves were getting the "claw" tips which based on what I read is an excess of nitrogen so next time I water I wont use any nutes.

A stem on the first node was falling off so I cut it off and cut it under water and put it in really wet dirt under my normal lights and we'll see how it goes.

on the positive side i bought a work light and put a 26 watt 2700k cfl in it so I have more light. altogether it cost $23 so the total cost of this grow so far is about $40.

Quick update: today I plan on putting this tiny guy on 12/12. Hopefully it's a girl and I'll cut a few clones for future harvests.

dude that box is useless, why not just hide it in ur closet or something and keep it in the sun when u can for the 12 hours of light..if u can only get 8 hours of sunlight then switching to the 2 -4 hours of cfl wouldn't be as bad as just the cfls..but why not let it sit in the sun (inside) where ur parents cant see it I guess? I assume ur living w/ parents cuz this box attempt lol...doesn't do anything but block it out of view.. but hell iif its that tiny, hide it outside in some place where it gets sun but no1 can see it on ur property and keep putting it there n taking it back inside as needed..get some nice sunlight..

My apartment has windows in weird places so I only get about 3 hours of direct sunlight a day between 4 and 7. That being said I do move the plant into the sun as often as I can maybe 6 times a week. The box is almost falling apart now, I guess from the humidity. I only have it to increase the light by having aluminum foil on the inside (I know it's not as good as Mylar but I haven't had a chance to get some yet).
