check my set up?

Ok, so ive been waiting, and now that im back from africa im hoping to start my little grow op.
ive got a nice size closet lined up that im using a small portion of... compact is the idea here, and descrete.
so what do you guys think of these as my main hardware...

for the growing.. this hydro system... it seems pretty small but its so perfect. agian im worried its too samll.... check it out

also i will have intak fan/ exaust fan. A deodorizing solution and ona gells. a thermometer and that stuff... i dono if i can afford climate controll equipment..

so what do you think? total crap or a possibility

I don't think so.

It may be fine for cloning.

that hydro setup is purty small. checkout the 'autpot' systems for 2 plants, its around £30/$80. much better.

that light is good enough for growing, but if you look around, you could probably get a 400w hps for the same price...

mogie found this earlier Hi-Tech Garden Supply it will be much better. most 250watts only give you 21,500 lumens 32,000 at most. 400 watts will put out between 31,000 and 55,000 lumens. depending on the brand of course. and with the price, you cant go wrong.

the hydro system is a small ebb and flow and i suggest reading the FAQ section before messing with hydro. not to discourage you but i think once you understand the simplicity of all the different hydro systems you will not want to buy an over priced "complete system" but might want to build it if you are somewhat handy. https://www.rollitup.org/view.php?pg=faq&cmd=article&id=562. check out the areoponic cloner/bubbler also https://www.rollitup.org/view.php?pg=faq&cmd=article&id=197 . with the money you save you can buy everything else you need. timers, ph test, ppm test kit, hygrometer, fans, nutrients, etc. good luck! the gels dont work well and if you plan on making it a hobby for future then a carbon filter or ionizer will be a great INVESTMENT.

ill check out the light, and it seems your right the potting stuff ist wayyy to small. I actually hadnt seen the dimensions, its like 16 by 24 or sumthing rediculous. Im pretty handy so i might just do waht you said and make one, OR would it just be straight up easyer and cheaper to get rid of the whole hydro idea and grow in soil?

umm thats a pesonal preferance that you might not want people to get into on this thread since it might take up room. lol, i grow in both. my mothers in soil and ebb and flow for flower. i think you will like the ebb and flow system. plants grow super fast. soil is more forgiving but like i said it is up to you. try both. post the journal here. im sure people would love that expierement. DO IT! J/K

I really don't like to disagree. 16" by 24" for six p[lants gives each of them 8" square. Thats is the same area / plant that Al B Fuct uses in his sytem "How to get a harvest every two weeks. This picture just happens to be a table that is 32" by 48". You can see, twice the size, twice the plants. Cloning growth doesn't require any where near that amount of space per plant.
Having said all that I recommend you check out 'Barrel Of Green' posted by Major Toke. Dr. Pot, one of the inventors, posted it here also. It sound perfect for you. VV

the hydro sys looks great, i'm not totlly sure about the price tag but it seems decent.
that light you been looking into is totally over-priced, i wouldn't buy it. check Hi-Tech Garden Supply they used to be way cheaper

I'd go with the 400....and IMO..it IS a good deal. That unit wholesales for $135...and the lamps are easily worth $20 each. They aren't making a whole lot of money here.

Yes, HT supply is a good place..but we need to compare apples and oranges here. The ballast "kit" they sell that is all the rave here is unassembled, is NOT a SWITCHABLE unit...has no case for protection (oh, what a deadly shock you can get fucking around here), and no mounted/secure cords to plug into...etc.

Oh..and NO lamps.

The Pulsar is complete. Plug it in...change the switch/lamp for flower/veg...

And there's a WARRANTY. I'm betting the home-wired model has no warranty..or a very limited one because the user mustr assemble it...and often..the user is simply clueless. (no one here, of course)

The Emily's is OK...but I would do a soil grow first to get my feet wet. Easier..less hassles...etc. Then go hydro.

Up to you though. To each their own.

HTG used to offer always pre-wired unites for a buck... but i haven't checked their offers in the last few month so i'm not a 100% right now

haha sounds great guys... im liking the light if i kick it up to 400... it just seems easyer. and its switicable which is definatly nice.

so i was under the impression hydro was easyer cuz you didnt have to water it and all that, but i can see where that would be wrong. Soil might be better. But, whats the leeway for being away from a soil plant? like on a weekend vacation? is it imposible (i can always get one of my friends to come over, tho got be carful with people seeing your shit i would assume, but i got one friend who would be willing and keep hush)

so for soil can someone go over the list of shit.

2 or 3 pots, about 1 gal?
soil... ill check up on this sight for a good soil...

i set my mom up with a 400 hydrofarm light with 6 -5gallon pots. i bought a bag a ocean forest and light warrior and i had some indo batguano left over. i get the soil for 9$ a bag down here and the pots are like 1.50 each and then a fan and and thermometer. she has an RO machine and is oldschool so didnt think she need ph testers and the stuff i have. 1 bottle of superthrive and small bottle of grow big. it is what i did my first indoor grow by the suggestion of my buddy in humboldt. 3 parts OF to 1 part LW and teaspoon of indo bat guano sprinkled and mixed well. very low matainance mix and will always swear by it for soil grows. you will not need to use any other nutes then grow big for most of the plants veg life. for flower i use cha ching and beastie blooms at a 1/4 strength with molasses and superthrive. very low matainance. i live for three days at a time quite often and have no problems with my plants. the more LW you use the more you will have to water. i hooked my mom up for her B-day for less then 150$ (light was from craigslist) and she is super happy with it. the 6 pots fit perfectly in the small area she has. the plants have been under 4wks now (from seed) and are looking awesome! quality at affordable prices.

ok so heres a question, I have a vertically challenged space... what is the min hight i can keep the plants from the light with good ventelation before it kills the plants or sets my home on fire? Are there any solutions for this?
