Lol, that'll work, bamboo stick nice and simple Like the submerged ball valve idea, easy to temporarily stop the flow, nice.The something out there will be a cork,a bamboo chopstick, & a small hole in the top of my res with a rubber grommet for light blocking the small hole..I will mark safe & low levels where determined -an ez fix. I installed a ball valve that you can use for getting water sample for ph/ppm or res change outs. It is T-ed off the main pipe to the 396 gph pump below submerged in the res- when I turn it on it depressurizes the system preventing the roots from getting sprayed. Great for when you want to check ppm or ph before the nutrient flows to the plants.
