Check out my heatsink...cxb3070@1400 or 1050?

Hey guys,

I calculated this heatsink to about 1000/in^2 @ the current 36" length and 4 3/8 width.

14 fins -1 inch per side = 28"
3/32 inch fins x 14 = 1.312"
spaces between fins 0.24" x 13 = 3.25

= 32.56/in^2. x 36" = 1172 in^2 total.

1172 / 6 = 195w active cooling
1172 / 16 = 68.9w passive cooling

I got these numbers from Growmau5's videos btw.

What I'm wondering is if I can run cx3070's @1400ma with some simple 100mm fans?

Or should I stick with a safe 1050ma and sacrifice some lumens for good measure?

Note: This is going in a small 2x4x5 closet with about a 150-200 cfm fan.

Thanks guys.

it really depends how many u wanna run, I had a higher watt for passive btw, 76W

anyway according to your calculations and mine you can run around 200w of heat on this, and thats about 400w true watts of cob.

so how many did u plan to run on this?
and why is it golden looking,is that just the light?

200w of heat is 400w of true cob? that's good news! How is that number calculated?

I only plan on running 4 cxb3070's @ 1400ma (max) with some 100mm fans (2 maybe)

The golden hue is just lighting and it's still dirty/oily from the metal shop.

I still have to flatten and polish the bottom before mounting the cobs too.

they r about 50w and 50% efficient at 1400mA, so 25w of heat each
