I hate to say it but they aren't funny anymore. They haven't come up with a new routine in 30 years or more. Comedy is not about hearing your favorite jokes told over and over again with the same punch lines. Cheech abandoned Chong, as well as the marijuana community for many years, saying he had outgrown it etc.. He came back to it after all of the parts he was getting in Hollywood started drying up, when it was too late to repair any damage, and you can tell that his heart is not in it. Chong has been a great advocate of marijuana (despite disavowing it while going through probation). I wouldn't walk across the street to see them for free nowadays. If you want to see their act, simply put on one of their movies, since all they seem to do is recreate scenes from their movies.

cheech and chong were funny when I was 16 and hadn't heard or seen the same routines over and over again. I agree that the older shows like Beverly Hillbillies, etc., are awesome, but I do get tired of watching those same reruns over and over again, no matter how great it was to begin with. There are plenty of good, entertaining shows and movies these days (and I am not a fan of med-dramas, etc. either). I saw Cheech and Chong live and was very disappointed - I wanted to like it but didn't, sadly. If comedy shows where everyone in the crowd can recite every line and punch line entertains you, then more power to you and have at it - you will love it.

It's funny how things that are designed to be funny or cool or trippy while high usually aren't that funny or cool or trippy, but instead are kind of lame. Don't get me wrong, I like some pot humor, but like other types of humor it's funny because it's unexpected you haven't heard it before. Jokes aren't like songs, you might want to hear Eric Clapton play Layla note for note, however the same doesn't hold true for comedy. Many comedians are able to integrate pot into their routines and do it well, but they don't tell the same jokes over and over again, or if they do the same routine later they change it up to make it funny, not more predictable.
